N54 Cobb CP with BOV or Diverter Valve
I'm looking into purchasing the Cobb N54 Chargepipe w/ Turbosmart plumb-black diverter valve or Turbosmart dual port blow-off valve. But I was wondering what the differences between the BOV and Diverter valve is?

A DV recycles the excess air in the boost system, a BOV releases it into the atmosphere.
I also found this on a VW forum:

Unfortunately Cobb only sells an OEM DV solution, if you want to go with a Tial flanged setup for your Turbosmart or Tial you'll have to consider a manufacturer who produces a CP that offers that flange
Edit: Just realized you're looking for the DV's and not the BOV. The If you're going with the Turbosmart setup I'd recommend sticking with the plumb back kit. If you're going for a dual port you're better off going with a less expensive BOV setup like the Tial/Turbosmart BOV. Last edited by Tiago@VRSF; 03-24-2016 at 09:01 AM.. |

Cobb is only OEM Style DV and you wouldn't want it anyway, it has horrible fitment and notorious for being problematic when it comes to installation.
There are plenty of other CP's with the tial flange that can mate to a turbosmart bov or tial bov. |

I recently sold my pos Cobb charge pipe only 5 months old and upgraded to a vrsf. So much better quality and fitment. Only reason I initially went Cobb is because I live near their headquarters in TX. Never buying Cobb again.

Now you got me worried. I was under the impression Cobb made quality products. We'll see if I struggle with the install on Monday.

I blew my 2nd stock charge pipe a while ago and wasn't going to go for a 3rd. Similar to the other person, I'm close to Cobb, so also drove over and just picked one up so the car wasn't down while waiting on shipping.
It was annoying that it didn't just slide right on, but really not as big a deal as everyone makes out. More than anything, you need to get the *exact* angle for it to go onto the t-body, which isn't as easy to find as it sounds and that's where it can get annoying. Once you know where it is though, it will go on and off with little fuss. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1173851 Cobb uses the stock t-body o-ring and the DV placement/orientation on it is great. Other than maybe a little swearing/elbow grease getting it on the first time, it's a fine option for DVs that interferes with nothing (air box, strut tower, IS fan relay, etc). |
