Boost solenoid problem...?

So after Jb4 uninstall boost solenoids are not turning on (all connections are perfect and even after reinstalling jb4 I have no luck). No boost to turbos...tested both solenoids off of the car and both activated and allowed vacuum to go through fine. No electrical power going to solenoids when the car is started..

Did you maybe connect them backwards, from outlet to inlet? Apply voltage to the rear one while connected, does the WG actuator close?

BTW without the solenoids you don't get boost; you can drive around but it would be under ambient pressure.

Yes wastegates open and close perfectly. Just not when solenoids are connected, whenever solenoids are connected there is no boost. I put a voltage tester to the connector for each solenoid and they were getting no power at all ?

Ok i'm re-reading. You're bypassing the solenoids and they're not completely disconnected. I don't really know what should happen then.

In short words, the turbos and wastegates are fine. Something is electronically wrong due to the connectors that power the boost solenoids not having voltage going to them.

I'm trying to pinpoint what is the cause.

Aren't the solenoids PWM? I wonder if you put 12v on them if it will damage them.

A steady 12v will probably burn the coil. In short bursts may be okay.

if you turn on your car you still see 12v from the wire powering the solenoids

They are probably switched using the ground side, like many other components. It has 12 volts, but no ground (therefore no current) until the ground side is "switched on"

Good news the problem has been fixed!! My car was giving off odd ibs problems and the waterpump would keep cycling after I drove the car and turned it off thus draining the battery leaving me stranded. According to my friend whos a tech at bmw the "control module" inside the waterpump went bad triggering multiple electrical faults such as limp mode no boost. Thankfully now the car runs great and hauls a*s!!! I appreciate all the help/effort from you guys

Bummer, mine is less than 2 years old.

Was your climate control fan running? Mine is not. I wonder if that electrical issue is related. I'm going to drop off the car at the dealer for that blower fan recall, I'll pay them the $150 to diagnose the no boost issue also.

Yes the fan was constantly on after turning the car off. Constantly draining the battery, if it means anything - my water pump was 1 year old. We might have the same problem

I meant cabin climate AC/heater fan, mine is not working, was yours?

My water pump runs a little after turning car off, witch is normal to cool off turbos, but i noticed it stopped, then started again. kinda fishy.

I've already ordered new boost solenoids, they should be here tomorrow. I will try that first, and new vacuum hoses.

Then i will pay the diagnostic fee at dealer while its in for recall.

I already threw $300cad at it for new boost solenoids, I'd hate to throw $500 and 8hrs of my time at a water pump and it not fix it. I already went through all this throw money at it with the other 335xi I had.

I appreciate the replies.
