BMW E90 Interior Door Handle Sticky?
I'm having some issues with the interior door handles in my car. When new they have a nice soft touch finish to them but after many years they are getting really nasty and sticky now. The hot Arizona weather probably doesn't help. Anyone else had this issue and found a better more permanent solution than simply replacing them periodically?

Did you do the replacement yourself? In parts diagrams it looks like it's just held in by 4 screws can you confirm?
Oddly the rear doors have the same part number but don't seem to have any issues. Thing seems like its just melting you can just peel off that rubbery layer. Thankfully FCPEuro with their lifetime guarantee should probably help me out should I need to replace it again. |

I bought some covers.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/white-stitch...M-quBA&vxp=mtr They have some different color stitching. My interior is gray and I just live with the black handle.

I actually messaged them to ask if they could make me the covers in grey leather instead, and they said they are going to send me a sample packet of colors to choose from. Last edited by Yangorang; 08-19-2016 at 11:46 AM.. |

I bought the parts from FCPEuro and price matched it to ECStuning. Since FCP has a lifetime warranty on everything I figure if it gets sticky again they'll most likely send me a replacement part with no trouble. Last edited by Yangorang; 08-20-2016 at 09:33 PM.. |

Okay so I ended up taking off one of my rear door panels to change out a window regulator and got a good look at how this handle is attached.
It's not going to be easy to replace - the little black pegs have to be melted into a mushroom shape essentially which is what holds it in. I'm sure they have some special tool for it at the factory but I honestly have no idea how we'd be able to DIY this. Some people here are saying they used torches and bolts to get it in: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=548035 I might try using a soldering iron and bolt or maybe just glue it in... Hi,
I know that it's probably late to answer, but I have fixed mine with leather cover, it looks beautiful, and my door handles don't have this adhesive touch anymore. Here is the installation video instruction on youtube: https://youtu.be/99xhdWOcdOs And this is how it looks like: ![]() |

Also you can also swap the rear handle to the front, they're identical. No one ever uses the back seats in my e90, quick and easy fix for a nasty front passenger side handle.

I know this is an older post but it seems a lot of people have this problem. I made a video replacing my wife's inner door handle using an aftermarket handle with screws. The entire job took 25 min from start to finish and only cost me $22.00 for both halves of the passenger inner door handle.
How to change sticky door handle using screws and not having to melt tabs.
