Too early for an April '08 Production Thread?
Newbie here, I've been pretty much on here non-stop as I have been finalizing things. I just ordered my 08 sparkling graphite 335xi, any idea when I can expect it to enter production?

The trend seems to be within a week.

Its never too early. Having just finished the entire process of ordering to delivery I understand your excitement. There is something about picking the exact options and color of your car and watching it go from production to delivery. It makes delivery that much sweeter. I felt I already had a bond with my car at delivery. It makes me feel somewhat as the creator of my vehicle since it would not exist in its current state without me having ordered it. Good luck and heres to a speedy process.

Understand the excitement myself.... I went through the process back in December. I ordered a '08 335i, and after two LONG months of tracking the process, finally got delivery in end of February.........
UNFORTUNATELY..... car was totaled in a freak accident (not my fault.) Only got to enjoy the car for about three weeks. I just put in another order last friday for the same exact car (Monaco blue, saddle brown, sports, premium.) My CA says I'm scheduled for production in week 14 which means next week I think. HOPEFULLY, without a delay at the port, I should be looking at a end-April delivery.... AGAIN |

Nope, sounds good to me. Everything ordered from this point on isn't going to start production until April. Hopefully I'm April production as well. If my car sells soon then I'll be placing my order as early as next week.

April 30, huh, sounds about right. My turn in date for my current car ('05 Infiniti G35x) is June 23rd, so that timing should work out.
I hear you on the bad luck Alveolus. I used to live in manayunk and had just gotten my Infiniti. Naturally I was parked on the street, when some drunk a#@ hole came down Shurs lane, must have been doing 60, and took out about 5 cars, mine among them. $22k in damage, only a couple thousand from being totally and needless to say its been making creeks and noises ever since. Cant wait to put her out to pasture and step into my new one. I ordered almost the identical car as you did Archangel, except SG instead of jet black and park distance instead of Sat radio. I have been going back and forth between Monaco, Jet Black and SG the past 2 weeks but I ultimately decided SG will just be less of a hassle to keep clean. Where did you Philly guys buy from if you dont mind me asking? I looked at Devon Hill and West German but WG gave me a far better deal. Devon Hill really didnt seem to take me seriously, but thats their loss. these next 2 months of waiting are going to be very long! |

And after having XM Radio for the last few years, I had to go with Sirius. I wish they offered a choice but that's alright. If the merger goes through, it will be great. Between that and the iPod adapter, there is no need to listen to terrestrial radio anymore. I would have gone with the PDC if I felt I had a need for it. I rarely backup into a place where there is something behind the car like a wall or another car. I ended up ordering mine at Thompson in Doylestown. I went to West German and I wasn't really a fan of the people in there. Something was a little off about them, IMO. But it could have just been my luck. And Thompson is the closest to where I live so I found it to be obviously more convenient.

I dont disagree that there was something a little off at WG. I went there, with a friend of mine who had been a CA out in Bend, Oregon for several years and he was appalled at the service when we walked in. My CA was off site at the moment but I was pretty much all but ignored by everyone else when I walked in the building, not a single person asked if I was being helped - and I can tell you there was not a single other customer there. Apparently those solitaire games were gettign heated on everyones computer because no one even looked up. Now it may have had something to do with the fact that I'm 27 but as my friend I was with said, you have no idea who is a "real" customer and who is not. He said his old sales manager would have fired someone if he had witnessed this scene.
As for Devon Hill, Claudio was who I worked with. Again I think my age may have played a role. When I went in there I was with my Mom and I think he just assumed he didnt have to work the numbers aggressively because I was some spoiled kid whose mom would be paying the bill. He was a nice guy, knew his product and knew how to sell, but I just think he misjudged the situation. I dont know maybe he didnt need the sale. At WG, the opening round of numbers my CA gave me were almost $80 less per month ($0/36 month lease) for an identically equipped car, so at that point it was a no brainer. My CA at WG ended up coming down even more, which allowed me to add more options, and ultimately allowed me to move up to the 335xi Sedan from the 328xi coupe I had been leaning towards because of the price. |

Thompson is great, I know several people that have had great experiences with them. For pure convenience I really just wanted to be a little closer to the dealer.

Thompson for service? I've heard great things about their service from people I know. I also know someone who bought their 328 at Thompson and had to get towed to BMW of the Main Line (apparently same owner as Devon Hill). They tried to gouge him and charge him in the neighborhood of $1500 to fix his rear wheel. He promptly had his car taken to Thompson where they fixed it for under $500. As for the others I only know what I've read on here which was some complaints about Devon Hill service.

Devon Hill and Main Line have not been owned by the same person since July of 06.

Gotcha, I didnt think they were but I saw something on here that said they were (probably a post from before 06). Did you buy yours there? Do you work there or something?

I was told they were modifying an existing order, but my car isn't scheduled for production, per the Customer Relations department, until week 17--end of the month.
Good luck. Jordan |

so what's the turnaround time now for ordering a 335? I remember when i ordered in april of 07 the car only cam in october but i decided to cancel the order. This summer i am most certainly going to order again and actually keep it and i would like it by end of august. When would be about the right time to order?

According to the 800 #, "Your vehicle is being transported to the port of exit."
Now, only like a month left... lol. I'm trying not to get too excited or worked up at this point. I am, however, on here more than anything and currently reading the owners manual. Last edited by Glacked; 04-11-2008 at 02:54 PM.. |
