Rock auto has always worked perfectly for me. Only issue I've ever had with any vendor was with ECS. They left out a part.

A couple years ago, I ordered a vanos solenoid for the 330i I had. Rockauto sent me a power window motor for some unspecified vehicle instead.

Aside from this mishap, rockauto has been PHENOMENAL. They have consistently had great prices, delivery, customer service, and selection. An occasional shipping error, will not diminish their reputation in my eyes. Anyone can make a mistake.

As for them making you pay return shipping... That is can no go. Talk to another person on the phone. Multiple "other persons" if necessary. You are not done until you get the answer you want.

You may have to pay for the return shipping, initially. However, that too should be refunded to you. If I remember correctly though, rockauto can arrange to have a carrier come and pick up your return package and pay for shipping with their company account.

I love Rock Auto. I just returned a shock (stud broke off during install) and it was an easy process all done online. There is even an option to print a return shipping label at their expense.

My only issue with RockAuto is I live 3 miles from them but they don't do local pickup of orders. I'd love to just go over to their warehouse and pick up my stuff. The last time I had to buy brake rotors for another car, they were the cheapest, but it was kinda silly that I had to pay like $25 for shipping the things 3 whole miles.

Little mishaps like this are expected with any company in any field.

Is it enough to say not to order from them based on one incident...mmm probably not.

I am sure that if wrong item was sent by them, return shipping should be covered. I would definitely contact the seller for reimbursement.

RA is a great store no doubt. It is kinda silly they dont do local pickup but many times items are shipped from multiple warehouses in the country.

I have been ordering from Rockauto for over 15 years and have never had an issue. Probably close to 50 orders at least. You definitely have to make sure you are ordering the right part though, even check the manufacturers but they are usually where the screw up began but that is the case with a lot of parts stores and online retailers.

The fact that theyre not even giving you a problem to return something that was ordered because of your mistake is exactly what i would expect from Rock Auto.

They have great customer service.

I must have ordered over 2k$ worth of parts from them this year alone, never had a single issue and shipping times are good. Parts arrive at my door anywhere from 1-4 days from ordering. Usually 2, maybe 3 days though...

Also Rock Auto ships their parts from multiple warehouses around the country. So, pick up, would probably just add too much problems for the amount of people that would actually be close enough to be able to pick up in the first place.

Also pay attention to the "ups truck style logo" next to parts in the parts catalog. That means it can ship from the same warehouse from 1 or more parts in your cart. This can sometimes avoid paying for multiple warehouse shipping charges.

I recommend creating an account as well. Keeps tracks of your orders, status of current orders, and an order history that goes back like 2-3 years. That way if you ever need to return or exchange a part, you can find the past order quickly and easily. Also they will email you coupons whch is always a plus lol.

OP don't make a blank statement like your title states and try and convince everyone that you were conned out of $10, because you have to ship the part back.
If it was a mistake on their end they most likely would of emailed you a prepaid shipping label to slap on the box. So I'm assuming, since it was your mistake, the shipping costs are your responsibility...
