325i Mods and dyno
Hello Guys!
This week I have done some mods to my N52 2006 325i. For the moment I did the full exhaust (headers and all the way back to the tips). Have done the custom work in a local exhaust shop, and bought the headers on eBay. I made some runs with the stock car on a Superflow dyno and got 231hp at the crank, it should be 218hp right? made several runs with exact same result, don't know where may the difference be. After the exhaust install I repeated the runs with stock ECU file, it Improved a lot, but in high RPM I have measured lean AFR values so reprogrammed the ECU to make it a little richer. After that the gain was of about 6hp in the higher RPMs range. In conclusion I'm very happy with the results but cannot explain the difference in stock power, and also how much will the 3 Stage Intake manifold improve these numbers. What experience do you have with this? About the graphs: Red one is all stock and it peaked at 231HP, dont remember exact torque number. Blue one is with the complete exhaust system, and a light remapping. Planning on doing some more work on ECU maps later! Cheers! |

You should speak to hassmaschine about buying a DME with a tune preinstalled for you - but NICE work so far, I see they let off early before redline.

No, AA headers look similar but have O2 sensor position down where pipes are united. Yes this position may not be the best but have made several dyno runs with an external datalog in the exhaust and AFRs where fine.

About the fitment it wasnt thaat good, one of the headers touched the engine mount so the fitment wasn't possible had to modify the exhaust. |

BTW, that chart almost certainly estimated BHP, not WHP.
nice job though! It's worth the effort. Every time I drive the E91 now, I no longer miss the power of my 330i (well, maybe a little - it's still heavier/slower, but I'm not often racing anyone with the wife and kids in tow). |
