BW 8374 vs PT 6266 gen 2

As the title states I'm seeking some feedback from guys whom have possibly ran these turbos on their N54's.

Please bear in mind I have limited knowledge on ST setups and what housing sizes etc to use, so am seeking some feedback.

I'm from Australia and down under being RHD we have bugger all clearance due to steering rack, and after speaking to a workshop in the UK whom recently modded a Doc Race 'LHD' manifold to fit the RHD vehicle they stated that an internal gated turbo would be best due to the lack of room for an external WG.

From what I know so far

BW +'s

Dual scroll hence has better spool characteristics
exotic sexy alloys for some components
Internal WG

-'s

Slightly more expensive in comparison to 6266 gen 2
internal WG looks pretty clunky
Reliability of internal wastegate? (from what I've read they seem reliable)

Precision 6266 gen 2

+'s Cheaper to purchase
Offers great top end peak power
From what I've heard its not laggy at all (based on feedback from a 2JZ owner)

-'s
AFAIK only ext WG (for RHD it may prove difficult to fabricate a setup using ext WG)
May be slower to spool compared to BW 8374 dual scroll
Have heard of housing defects (unsure if this is restricted to earlier models?)

Any comments or feedback would be appreciated

If its a top mount kit. That turbo might not fit due to being bigger. Make sure you double check! Bw is usually bigger

The Borg Warner EFR range are quite bulky and may make fitment difficult.

As an alternative, look as the BW S300SX-E range which come in 62/64/67 and 69mm variants.

I'm not convinced that the turbine wheels on Garrett's new Gen 2 GTX range can support the increased flow from the new design compressor wheels.

The GTW range is similar to the S300 SX-E and Precision sizing. You could look at a GTW3884 62mm or then the more compact GTX3582 Gen 2.

I have a gen 2 twin scroll 6266. After about 400 miles the turbo developed a whining noise. Thought it may be a boost leak or intake piping popped off but triple checked everything. Seems like it has an awful lot of front to back shaft play. Just my experience

The 6466 has proven to be a great fit for this platform but as a general matter I think there are better options than PTE like Garrett or FP/Xona.

The EFR is badass but fitment would be tight! They're enormous.

This is exactly why I went with borgwarner, that and It was basically the cheapest

OP: There is one guy I know of who has fitted an efr on a top mount. I honestly don't think it's worth the trouble given the difficulties that will come with making it fit. I own a top mount Borgwarner sx-e and it just barely fits my e90; just as a reference. I still have to cut my hood and add a hump in it for it to close.

If I had to do it over again I would go with a GTW.
If you have time to wait, I would wait to see how the gtx gen 2's hold up before running one, though
