E92 M3 Insurance (Please HELP)
Hi All,
I am hoping you all can help me here. I am looking to purchase a BMW E92 M3 DCT 2012 but before going ahead with the sale, I have been searching for insurance quotes and to my misery I am getting prices above £1700. I am 30 and have been driving for 10 years with 8 years no claims. Never have I been in any road traffic accidents or claimed on my insurance. I have not been refused insurance and have a clean license. I have tried using all the price comparison websites like confused.com, money supermarket and direct line and all of them were above £1700. I live in West London, Uxbridge and can't seem to find a reasonable quote. The car will stored on my private driveway. Questions: 1: Which insurance companies do you recommend contacting? 2: Is getting a tracker fitted going to help lower the preimum and if so roughly by how much? 3: Which trackers would you recommend and why? All help is very much appreciated and thanks in advanced. Jazz |

My premium actually works out cheaper if I say it's on the road rather than in my garage. Also, occupation makes a big difference so is there another title you can use? (but still keeping it yrue of course )

I am 30, 3 yrs NCB, with 3 points living in Hampshire and my E63 M6 costs £770 with all mods declared and insured to their value with Sky Insurance. Try Sky I say.

Big differences in postcode. I live W London also. My premium dropped £400 when I moved from Harrow to Pinner (2.5miles away).
Kids, occupation and drive way is all considered (if you park in a drive everyone know its your car and the keys are inside, someone could break into your house and have direct access to the car) Its a lottery.

They beat other quotes by £200 without any mods declared. Worth a go. |

When I was looking for my M3 I had a similar issue. Everyone was quoting £2k+. It seemed insane as I knew I had better quotes in the past and I pulled out of buying it.
A few days later I started getting sane quotes again. Might be worth seeing what you get in a few days time. As said above try tweaking all the parameters, including where it is, whether you commute, mileage, job title etc.. It may just be that you live in a shit postcode though. I had this for a while where the quote was double vs. my current post code, even though parked in a gated car park. |

i was told to look for quotes at the end of the month as companies look to fill their quotas at this stage so dropped price. never knew if it was true or not.

You might have already tried this but try setting the policy start date a couple weeks ahead. A birdie told me it makes you look more organised and thus a lower premium.

I have heard Aplan are good insurer for BMW insurance also partner with discount to the BMW car club GB. I'm with AXA at the moment who where the cheapest at my last renewal (didn't know about Aplan at the time) but then I'm not an M3 owner but do live in a sticky postcode

Thanks for all the replies everyone.
Having taken your advice on board I managed to get a decent quote by removing the tracker and also saying it is parked on the street instead of my garage. I found this strange and would have thought it would be safer in a locked garage then on the street but it dropped the preimum by a substantial amount. I also mentioned I had a dash cam installed. My perineum for the year came to £735 with two people on the poloicy and I being the main driver. All in all thanks allot for your advice and help. The deal was done with Adrian Flux. |

Admiral group refuse to quote me if I use my real name. A single change in surname letter (TYPO I promise) and suddenly the quotes start flowing. Really sneaky bastards they are. £700 isn't bad. That's what I'm paying. At £500 I'll be happy. |

I'd recommend trying Adrian Flux, nothing but good things to say about them.
