since it seems this info is impossible to find, here it is.

Note. bmw coding forum has a whole bunch of info regarding patcher version 2 however as time of writing only works for US and Central Europe. title "lets hack the cic" some very good contributors and a good read.

Anyway, if you have retrofitted cic and dont want to use an emulator here is what you do to script activate so the nav itself works.

Credit goes to "This guide was made by TheChoseN aka Czozen" for the script activation guide.

Download this guide and files on any of the below links. Its very stright forward. To script activate, the instructions have worked for me on the IP allocated first time every time except once on an 2008 early cic, whatver i didnt i could not get it work. Updated cic software, worked first time as per those insturctions. People have all sortes of dramas connected to the cic, ive never had any besides that one. I have only ever used putty and total commander, never had a drama.

Once activated, your good to go, thanks "Czozen" your the best.

Now using dr.gini version B014 and following "Czozen" instructions you can.

1. work out your fsc code for map updates. this will be 100% correct however will not work if your script activated due to vin mismatch. so..

2. You can use dr. gini B014 (other versions after that dont have the "check fsc" as far as i know) and try place you cic into "Check FSC" which will temporarly disable the vin check to your CAS and allow map updates to be made on script activated units.

This has never actually worked for me, no matter the cable, icom etc. gini just crashes when i try "Check VIN" or Check FSC.

Anyway, here are the links to gini 014, i suggest donating to him as its good software if you can figuer out how to actually donate to him. The 2 forums ive seen him on i cannot get access to and im over it. They are mhh and car technology or something like that. It order to simply access them and try read the pages i imitate googlebot.

In order to run gini you need ediabas 7. Download mike easy tools for a 1 click installer which is good:

Anyway, i was able to use gini to work out the fsc code and for anyone with factory fitted cic, use it, few click and your done. no need to screw around with 1B files and so on.


ANyway, if your cic is retrofitted and script activated like above in order to update maps, we need to put the cic into "Check FSC" mode to trick it. If gini does not work, then this is what you do.

1. download FSTool which is a bmw tool again which seems impossible to get a hold of, like its some kind of big secret, anyway here it is. It does a tonne of stuff, but for the purpose of this tutorial, follow the install instructions and you can get your new mpas updated in your cic with no effor at all.

The download also has JRE 1.4.2 which is needed to run fs tool. Installing in the default program files directory did not work for me, so i installed it into C: \ EC-Apps \ JavaSoft \ JRE \ 1.4.2_06

Below are the installation instructions, its very simple.

But do note: You can ignore the necessary data step, if all your doing is as above.

The settings for check fsc should be under the paramaters tab (after you go to Konfiguration and change to english)

Applications Nr: 1B
Upgrade Index: 1
Diagnose Adresse: 63

CLick on Check_FSC on the left box and again on the right side box, then click activate function (or something similar) and your done.

Dont turn your cic off as its currently been tricked until it restarts, put your usb stick in the glovebox usb, update map, use the fsc code gini gave you, which never worked but now will and your done.

Easy as that. You can do a whole lot more with FS Tools but beyond this.

1. Basic condition (vehicle)

- freizuschaltendes controller is flashed to the most recent I-stage and installed.

- Terminal 15 is on

Second Basic requirements (work calculator)

- JRE 1.4.2 installed; ATTENTION: older or newer Java versions are not compatible!

- EDIABAS is configured to communicate with your vehicle.

- EDIABAS 7.0.X is installed in the C: \ EDIABAS drive.

- You must have administrator privileges on the computer.

- Tool32 or other EDIABAS applications are NOT running!
Third installation
1) Start fstool.exe and unzip the archive to C: \ Temp \

2) To install the car server, start the batch file C: \ Temp \ fstool \ CSF-V15.0.0.11 \ Inst_Default.bat

3) Disable and exit the Windows service "VServer" in the system settings (start, system control, administration, services, double-click VServer,

4) Start the batch file C: \ Temp \ fstool \ install.bat

4.a.) Customizing the Java path in the FSTool startup file:
The batch program from point 4) automatically calls the start file of the FSTool with an editor for editing. Please enter the current Java installation path of your system at "SET JAVA_HOME =" (eg "SET JAVA_HOME = C: \ EC-Apps \ JavaSoft \ JRE \ 1.4.2_06") and exit the editor with save and exit.

5) Restart your computer!
4th Necessary data:

- The chassis number (VIN) of the corresponding vehicle
- A free code (FSC) to the appropriate VIN and the function to be enabled

Note: The FSC is stating the freizuschaltender function (SVS CIC) and VIN to request time (at least 24 hours prior to activation) by e-mail at swt.support@bmw.de

5th Starting the application s (workstation)

- There are 2 new icons on your desktop:
"Start_FSTool_v2_CarServer.bat" to start the fstools
"Csd start.bat" to start the CarServers

- Double-click "csd start.bat". A DOS box opens
- Double-click "start_FSTool_v2_CarServer.bat". First a DOS box opens and later the FSTool starts

6th Step by step instructions for activating SVS

1) connecting with CarServer
On the Connection tab, press the Connect button,



EDIABAS is started and the successful connection setup is displayed in the status window
2.) input of the parameters
On the "Parameters" tab, specify the following values:

Diagnostic address: 63
Appl No .: 17 (corresponding to the SVS)
Upgrade Index: 1
FGN: The last 7 represent your chassis number


3.) charging an activation code
On the "Freischaltcodes" tab, press the "From file"



In the subsequent file selection dialog, please select the release code that you want to incorporate into the vehicle
4.) Check
On the "SWT services" press the "Activate Upgrade" button. The release code is now inserted into the CIC and activated this can take several seconds.



A successful disconnection is displayed in the status window.

5.) SG reset
By e rfolgreichem importing please perform an SG reset.

is there anyway to reverse this? I didn't realize id be losing voice controls by script activating and removing my emulator. I think I rather go back with the emulator so that I retain voice controls

Nevermind, I just deleted the activation file and put my original file back. It's back to normal now.
