Time for a new starter! Should be a DIYable job. No more than 3 hours and $160 for a new BOSCH starter (Remanufactured BOSCH is $129). Or pay an indy to do it for $600.

Does it only long crank when cold? What about starting it right after driving?

Check the battery voltage under 12 volts is bad.
I know you said new battery but its and easy check.
Time for plugs maybe.
Its close enough to 100k and its probably been 11 years.

Starter seems fine. Cranks fast.

Normal failure mode on these cars for starters is a grinding noise caused by failure to disengage

On later cars (forget what year) they changed the Sparkplug interval to 60k miles with no other changes... Meaning, 60k is likely a good interval for all N52 cars.

It is only the first startup.

I had long cranks. Starter seemed fine but then bam. She died on me. I also did plugs around that time as well.

But for long crank issues typically id check battery levels and plug conditions before you go ripping the starter out.

I think it is better to replace the starter before it just goes out. The last time I waited I replaced a starter in a target parking lot.

How many miles do you have? And is this the original starter?

I think its your starter but it does not hurt to also check ground straps...

I am thinking of replacing the starter with bolts, intake manifold gaskets, ground strap and that sensor in the intake manifold that breaks.

You dont need to replace ground strap it it looks ok. Yeah, if replacing starter you need to replace bolts and manifold gaskets for sure, not sensor.

Mine died at 72k. It sounded weak prior but nothing that would've ever led me to believe it would die. Had an accord prior and that thing sounded weak for 100k miles and never died but different parts I guess.

I talked to my friend who works at a euro indy shop and he said to replace the plugs first to see whats wrong. I don't want to just replace parts but these are cheap enough.

Apparently after hours of searching these are the plugs that came with my car:

and these are the updated ones:

Just know its not the ONLY case. In my case I had an intermittent slow start that acted like a dead battery but the battery was fine. It would happen on 1/10 starts prior to total failure. I checked the battery over and over again but it always had voltage. Ordered the starter and the day the starter arrived at my doorstep was the day the one inside the car decided it was done with life, in my garage.

And after replacing the starter it was OBVIOUS how long my starter was weaker, probably the last 60k miles. Not so you noticed it getting slower but now its instant.

I didnt have an issue with sensor but I went ahead and bought that 3 way hose that has all of those hard plastic fittings because Ive heard of that thing failing when you pull it. Plus its got 3 gaskets that could leak causing a vac issue.

IMHO pulling the intake is enough of a PITA on these cars to not mess around, anything that plugged into it, any gaskets on it, and anything under it (which is really just the starter and a couple of coolant hoses) got swapped.

I have a new OEM Bosch Starter, intake manifold gasket set and new aluminum starter bolts, all the parts recommended for a starter replacement for sale. I bought them in January but never replaced my starter..and sold my car a few months back.

If you're interested, make me an offer. I have not posted them for sale anywhere yet.
