Beginners maintenance 2010 335xi coupe
Hey guys, I just bought a 2010 335xi coupe with 116k, no service records from used dealer. Could you recommend some DIY maintenance under the hood to keep my used bimmer in good mechanical condition? I am ok with a wrench. Thanks for any help

Check and or change all the fluids and filters, like any used car. It's probably on the original coolant, brake fluid, transmission and diff fluid. With a little luck it's had more than 2 or 3 oil changes.

I'm curious if I should also add some fuel injector cleaner. From what I've been reading injector problems are frequent on these forums. Which brand would anyone recommend?

Does anyone here think I should get my money back? I'm ok with DIY and minor repairs but maybe this is a sign...... |

The steam for the left area is most definitely a valve cover gasket leak. Very common issue with the N5x engines. It's possible to DIY, make sure to set aside a whole day though. Getting it repaired by a shop can cost up to 4 or 5 bills. |

Drivers or passenger side?
The temp sensor on the lower hose on the passenger side has an o-ring that leaks after some time. I've changed them on all my cars, and keep a spare in the toolbox. The coolant reservoirs can fail at the seam, and leak. The 'overflow' line from the drivers side upper rad hose to the reservoir has some hard plastic sections. I've had one crack. Two of my cars have short hairline cracks at the top of the rad tank on the drivers side. Weeps tiny bits of coolant. Holding together fine, will replace when it's warmer. Dealers will lie on a safety to get a car out the door. |

Yeah passenger side. I checked the common trouble spots, the seal on the coolant tank looks good, line going from the tank then across the top of the rad looks great. I'm at the garage now after an hour highway drive and of course no steam fml. I'm excited to do some work myself just would like a clean bill of health from the used dealership so I can atleast put some bucks away for repairs down the road. I love the car, love driving it so hopefully they don't mess around or I'll return it.

Which dealership did you get the car from? Seeing that you are from Port Dover, I can't think of many in your area that sell imports, except for Haldimand Motors.

Getting the car back tomorrow morning, with the two issues resolved. CEL was caused by a pinched wire on the aftermarket charge pipe/BOV installed by the previous owner. They also pressure tested the coolant system which turned out great. The only leak they found which hopefully was causing the smoke/steam was from a hose on the bottom of the reservoir. Can't wait to get my baby back! They are even delivering it to my house in the morning.

Still smoke coming from the front end. I got a real good video of it to show the service manager. Happens every time I stop the car. No good. Just wish I could post it on here.......

Why can't you post the video here? There are many individuals who can off you their assistance. I'm going to assume that you have an oil leak somewhere.
