Engine Whine in Speakers
My car has a hissing noise coming through the speakers as soon as I unlock it or open the doors (basically whenever the electronics come on). I have found some videos on youtube with the same problem but on other cars. The way others have fixed it is grounding the RCA cable coming into the head unit. However, our cars don't have an RCA cable going into the head unit.
Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know which wire in the harness is RCA? I have the base stereo with no amplifier. I have checked all the stereo fuses and checked the grounds on the battery. Thanks for any help.

I can tell you that I actually replaced my head unit under warranty (back when I had one) for similar reasons. The dealer laughed as they immediately thought it was the amp (that they couldn't find in my base system). Problem resolved when they replaced the head unit. And for reference, I have a 3/2010 build.
Ground is a good first check, but this solved my problem. |

I had the hissing noise but I replaced my headunit with an aftermarket Android unit and now the noise is gone. |

90 percent chance you have a bad head unit with hiss in a base system.
You can try re seating the connectors to the radio. That has worked for some people. The radio or idrive is never really off as it runs the chimes and gongs in most model years. It goes to sleep after a set amount of time depending on conditions such as paired cell phones and locking the car. There are no RCA cables you can't treat this like and aftermarket stereo. https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1036190 Last edited by ctuna; 04-21-2019 at 01:24 PM.. |
