OEM Wireless Charging Install

Goal: To flex to people around you that your car has a wireless charger.

Parts:
Snap In Adapter Base 51167118054
Snap In Wireless Charging Adapter 84102449887

Price: $200

Compatibility: Any car with option $639 and probably $640 cars as well.

Any QI wireless charging compatible phone under 151 x 74 x 16 mm. It looks like I am not getting the iPhone 11 Max in September.

DIY:

Take your snap in base plate and put the wireless charging adapter into it.

Then go to the car and remove the center console rubber mat.

Lift up your hand brake boot and fish for the phone pre-wiring.

Run the wireless adapter wires under the center console and connect the wireless charging adapter. Shove the wiring back in place.

Snap the wireless charger in and you are done.

I didn't know they still had these things. Thought they stopped doing stuff after the plug in module went away.

They still have the snap in adapters with the F series cars. I need to try my friends iPhone X with the adapter. You can not have 6in+ phone will not fit.

Cool. If only this could be dash mounted so I could use maps, etc. at the same time.

^

Had this wireless charging cradle from factory in my 340. Was too small to fit my phone which kinda of made me wonder what the point was, given it was released as an option when larger phones were very much the norm.

As for the mod aspect though: very cool.

Tlow: there are some third-party adapters out there that will let you mount your phone and charge at same time. Might be worth checking out!

3k?

Wooihooo. Finally, now grovel at my feet, fellow blue water metallic owner.

In all seriousness I havenít seen an oem e90 wireless charger dash mounted.

I bring it bc who puts their phone in the center console while driving? If the OP or anyone else does thatís fine, but it seems to me to be more the rarity than the norm.

True, no OEM solutions, but a bunch of us have made various effective solutions.

True about armrest, but it it used to be the norm. With the way CarPlay works, hell, it mind as well be there.

I like this... I can now play music and charge at the same time until I add Bluetooth... but I would like it more if it was on dash somewhere but it’s good to have it out of sight too so nice.

The new Iphone SE (2020) will fit! BTW, there is a mod that will allow you to use longer phones. It uses a 3d printed lower arm that is shaped to allow larger phones to fit. I have the file, and and can get it printed if needed PM me.

Damn y'all are a bunch of dorks... 3d printing parts to make a somewhat useless charger option work.

I love it!
