I looked into them when I did mine but ended up going with OE. A few reviews had issues with wires being shorter than needed. And issues with the pipes not clicking into place unless some trimming was done. I only changed the 2 longer hoses for around $130. The rest is still good.

Based on the links you sent, I'm assuming you have a 2006 325/330 magnesium valve cover N52, with the external oil separator.
I personally purchased a Rein oil separator from Rock Auto however that is currently not available. The only one available there is from Gates for $45. For the hoses I used two different brands: Oil Separator to Intake: Rein Oil Separator to Oil Pan: Rein Oil Separator to Valve Cover: Dorman The only thing I didn't buy was the heated elbow that goes into the throttle body, because that's covered under warranty and will be replaced for free by my dealer whenever I schedule an appointment. I had no issue with any of the parts. They all fit perfectly. All the wires were the correct length and there was no trimming required. Everything connected perfectly too. Just lubricate the o-rings to make it a bit easier to connect. Rock Auto sells the complete kit for $165, Beck/Arnley brand. I'm familiar with the brand but not this specific kit so I can't comment on it's suitability. |

Bringing the thread back, as a couple points on the Rock auto beck/arnley kit.

More specifically, I ordered the BECK/ARNLEY 045-0409 kit which comes with the hoses and the separator. Saying what you will about being made in China, the quick releases were all really stiff - the 15 year old ones removed from the car had more flexibility, and this was a sign of what was to come. The two heated hoses had fitment issues. Oil Separator to Oil Pan: Really stiff at the pan, needed far more then normal force, but I wanted to get it all done and installed. It was loose at the separator, and the tab broke on install. Oil Separator to Intake: Acceptable, a little loose at the separator end, but not bad considering. Oil Separator to Valve Cover: This was the worst one, and there isn't much room to install it on the car. Even off the car I couldn't install this on the separator end at all, it was too tight to fit even the included one in the kit - I could get it part way one original BMW piece, but not enough to say it fit. The valve cover was a no go as well. So the kit is on the way back to Rockauto for a refund. Honestly surprised it's on the "loved" list, maybe I just got an unlucky version of it - but more then likely the tolerances are poor and the QC isn't that great. Tried to order the gates hoses & separator from RA (since I had decent luck with their stuff on my e46), but 3 of the 4 got cancelled, so the Rein & doorman stuff should be here Thursday, and I'll give it another attempt on the weekend. |
