Catalytic converter smoking

I removed my valve cover to replace my valvetronic motor and once I reinstalled my valve cover I started my car and started driving and smoke was coming inside my cabin from my AC being on. I popped my hood and my catalytic converter had a liquid on it and it was smoking a lot. Do you guys think it's oil from removing my valve cover or do you think my valve cover is leaking. I have a 2011 335i.

If it wasn't doing it before, it could be leaking. Maybe there was some residual oil that spilled down during the gasket change. Keep an eye on it and see if it persists.

If it keeps doing it after a couple of miles driving you have a valve cover leak. The hot exhaust would burn all of the existing spillage in maybe ten minutes. Don't park the car indoor until you understand, it's a fire hazard.

Yeah I cleaned my catalytic converter off last night of oil and started my car in the garage and the converter got hot and started popping and sizzling and scared the hell out of me because of how bad it was smoking so I quickly disconnected my battery and looked under the car and I had oil dropping off of the catalytic converter
