Question cable diagram for oil level sensor BMW 325i 2006 E90

Hi Guys

First time on this site.
Hoping some one can help. A few months ago I lost the oil level sensor (Oil senor inactive displayed) and then a short time later I lost one of the O2 sensors. Something happened that cut 5 of the cables under the car but above the tray near the oil sump. I found 2 of the cables from the oxygen sensor cut but as I can see both cut ends and there is plenty of cable I can easily connect these back up. All three of cables from the oil level sensor plug which connects to the oil level sensor cut to the plug edge. Unfortunately the cables are cut so close to the edge of the plug (male end which connects to the sensor connector) that I do not know of the three wires which one connects to which terminal. Does any one have a circuit diagram for the oil level sensor and the three colored cables that come to it? I have checked far and wide and a repair manual but no joy The oil sensor connector has the numbers 1,2,3 on each of the pins. Any help or indication would be very much appreciated.

Here is where you'll find the wiring diagram for the oil condition sensor:
https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e...dition-sensor/

You can see at the top how I found the page, starting with a 325i and then going to wiring diagrams, power train, engine, etc.
Since you have a 2006 USA car, it is likely that you've got an N52 engine, so it'd be the first link.
Violet pin 1, brown pin 2, orange pin 3.

Thank you Jesse! Another question.

The site is extremely useful!
Found some great info. Can I confirm something? When you look at the following diagram do the colored boxes next to the wires represent the actual colors of the cables?
For example it has orange gold and purple going to connector pins 1,2,3
It seems to correllate to the three cables I see although the colors have faded a bit

https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e...ne-oil/d8gqjlG

Thank you in advance for your help!

Yup, the little colored boxes are supposed to be close to the real color. and the two letters to the right of the wire opposite the boxes are abbreviations of the german word for the color, so the purple is VI or violett, BR is braun, OR is orange, and black would be SW for "schwarz", yellow is GE for "gelb"

Welcome to the Forum!

Even MORE useful if you refer to the schematic for the CORRECT model. The page you link is for 335i, and you stated you have a 2006 325i E90. Here is the correct TIS circuit diagram for your OZS (Oil Condition Sensor, B62540a in schematic), and the "Connector View" for its Connector (X62540):
https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e...ne-oil/oXDCoJm

As Jesse indicates, the Two-Letter color abbreviations are the GERMAN color abbreviations, but the color shown in the box beside the wire (NOT the wire itself) is generally correct, and teaches you what the abbreviations stand for. In this case, your three wires are (originally ;-):
1) Pin #1: Violet wire, BSD (Bit Serial Data bus) signal to DME via Pin #35 of Connector X60005 at the DME;
2) Pin #2: Brown wire (Brown is most always a chassis ground), to chassis ground point "X6460"; if you click on the BLUE component ID# X6460, you can select an "Installation Location" to see where it is located;
3) Pin #3: Orange wire (Red or Orange wires are usually 12V+ battery power), and in this case, the power comes from fuse F03, located in the E-box, and is ignition-switched as indicated by the "87" above the fuse symbol, which stands for "Terminal 87" which becomes active when ignition is switched on, and remains active for a time AFTER STOP button is pressed.

So there is a WEALTH of information in TIS if you take the time to learn how to use it. See the attached E9x References pdf for links to TIS, Bentley pdf, and a LOT more.

Now that the colors vs. pin location resolved, based on your description of the damage, you may need a new connector for the wire harness. BMW sells the connector that can be re-pinned. Item #11.
