I have a fbo 335i with percison race works ignition kit and a 3.5 bar on charge pipe. I'm running stage 2+ and am having problems with top end 3rd gear and also a misfire that won't go away after hard driving even after restarting and retuning. Looking for any advice I'm 16 and don't have much experience thank you. [IMG][/IMG]
Turns out it was the mosfets for cylinder 123 went bad code found was 30ba after I rewired the coils check spark plugs and everything else.

My advice would be to avoid the top end of 3rd gear until you reach the top end of your 20's. Ha, I crack myself up!

But seriously, my first step with a misfire is always to swap a couple coils and see if it follows the coils or the cylinders. Move on to the spark plugs next if it's not the coils.

Are you receiving any check engine codes? Scan the car. Even if the check engine light is not on, there could be a pending code that can give you a hint.

Changing the coils around is free and one of the first things to do, but the idea is that if you are receiving a misfire code for cylinder 3(have to scan the car to know this), then you want to swap that coil with another and see if the misfire code changes from 3 to whatever cylinders coil you swapped.

I just got new coils so I don't believe it is that I think it might be the spark plugs I will check the gap

I'll do some checking with the coils thank you but it occurs at random times

I've had brand new coils fail before. It's so non-invasive and easy to swap that it makes sense to start there.

Either way, if you can pull a code then you will know exactly which cylinder to examine.

Ah, now I see what you're getting at. Since he mentioned 3rd gear, I mistakenly had it in my head that he had a cylinder 3 misfire. Yeah, of course you're exactly right. He needs a code reader for sure!
