Review: Concord BMW Service, 328i Loaner and v31 (w/ pics)
This is a review of the service I recently encountered at Concord BMW; the loaner 328i I received from the dealership while my 335i was in for service; and the recently-released v31 software. You can skip down to any portion of this review that you are most interested in.
BMW Concord Service I took my 335i for service at BMW Concord. My friend f’d up the rear passenger window and it wouldn’t close. It took some time, because they had to order a new part and then, when the part came in, they needed a couple of days with my car. Anyway, long story short, the service was very good. My CA was Kathy. She was very nice and professional. Overall a very good experience. My only complaint is that it took a little longer to fix the issue than I thought it would. In the end, everything was paid for by the warranty. Loaner 328i Below are pictures of the Monaco Blue 328i loaner I got while my car was in service. Unfortunately, it was non-sport – I would have liked to try a sport model. Anyway, my 335i is Montego Blue, but I was very impressed with the Monaco Blue. It looked very distinguished and more formal, whereas the lighter Montego Blue looks flashier and more playful. The most notable thing about the 328i was how noticeable the lack of 70-ish horsepower from my 335i was. I hate to say it. I don’t want to start another of those damned 328i vs 335i forums, but it’s the honest-to-god truth. I was so happy to get back in my 335i and have the increased power and acceleration. Something I preferred about the 328i was that the child seat hooks were hidden behind the back seat cushions. There was just a little sticker indicating where the child seat hooks are and you had to pull back the seat cushion to expose the hooks. In my 335i, the seat hooks are covered by a piece of hard plastic, that looks a little unsightly and can also be unconformable to sit on/by. The 328i did not have rear folding seats, so I think that is why the seat hooks could be hidden behind the cushion. One down side to this (it certainly looked nicer and more comfortable) is that I could see the cushion getting worn down by constantly pulling it back and setting the child seat in. Again, I’m pretty sure this was just a function of the car not having rear fold down seats and not anything inherent in the 328i. Version 31 As a (happy) consequence to my window problem, the dealer had to update my car’s software to v31, because the new part could only be run on the new software (according to the CA). I wasn’t going to argue! I now have v31 and have the work orders to prove it! There’s been a lot of talk about whether v31 does anything to reduce the turbo lag. I can confirm that it does!!! Don’t get me wrong, it’s not gone completely, but it is much, much less pronounced. That’s it. Sorry this was so long, but I had a lot to say! Hope you enjoyed reading this! |

I don't understand this mentality, coming from someone who used to have a 328i I don't see what the problem is. It was the nicest car I have ever had until I bought my current car. It's a free car and a BMW at that. Seems like a good deal to me. The problem with people is they feel entitled to everything. It's called a courtesy loaner for a reason. You could give me a Chevy Aveo loaner and I would'nt give a shit. Afterall, your not buying the damn thing. Sorry for the rant and I'm not trying to call anyone out. It has just been a long day and those type of comments are a big pet peeve with me.

I'd love to see the work order with v31 on it. Did you get the diagnostic printout with target DME number on it by chance? Feel free to PM me.
