No it’s not. However, I have been using this oil in 0w-40 and 5w-40 grade for over a decade without any ill effects. Got good Blackstone reports too.

Another longtime T6 user here. In my 2 N54s, and in my 3 Subaru EJ255s, which are notoriously intolerant of bad oil.

I have run T6 in my m52 swapped turbo e30, in the n54, and a bunch of other cars. I have yet to hear anything bad about it yet.

Diesel oil has more zinc which is a good. I haven't used any though. I just stick to my usual Castrol 0W40, but I don't mind switching over some time soon.

BMW put in a new motor and my X6 because of a class action lawsuit recently and after one year
I now have a hole in my block and they were asking for oil receipts I did not want to give them one of Rotella if it wasn't approved oil but with the information that I had given them they are now ordering me another new motor
thanks for replies
I think the oil is great as well

was it trying to commit suicide due to its looks?...

I mostly kid...But seriously, how the hell have you gone through2 motors? I assume they were stock or BMW wouldn't be replacing them.

Yes stock it's a V8 twin turbo
It's a hole on the top right side of the engine under the expansion tank driver side they haven't told me what caused the hole yet but it definitely came from inside the car was leaking oil very bad but still ran perfectly

Sorry, but how do you know the hole in the block is not from using the Rotella?

It's an N63. This is pretty much normal.

And ya, T6 is just too thick. Get a good Euro 0W40 or 5W40 and be done with it.

Turned out a lower rocker broke loose and poked a hole in the engine
New engine is being installed as we speak

0w-40 and 5w-40 T6 are probably very similar to 0w-40 and 5w-40 Helix Ultra.

Back to T6 ... I recall the huge following that T6 had for the M5x series engines with lots of UOA to validate the devotion. However, have the turbo generation Nxx series engines leapfrogged the T6 oil technology? I generally just stick with US brand LL01 oils these days since a lot of them are full synthetics and priced really affordably

The T6 5W40 is considerably higher viscosity than the Euro 5W40.

That's not a good thing. LOL.

At least compare the 0W40 T6 to the Euro 0W40.

Again, the Euro version has much lower viscosity.

Not sure why anyone would use T6 when you can find the Euro XW40 for less, and can have the LL-01 rating.

Oh I know that oil build got gasoline is better but people got for T6 because often it can be purchased for lot less. Years back I was buying it on a shop account for $5 per gallon. Now is considerably more. Few weeks ago a purchased 8 gallons for the shop at $17 each.

Last fall I got the Pennzoil Euro 5W40 for $16 CAD for a 5L jug. Picked up a .....few.

It's also SN+ rated, which is good at preventing LSPI. Not sure how the T6 can handle that issue.

And to answer OP's original question, no, it is not an approved oil. Must be using an LL01 or LL01FE+ rated oil. The T6 is only rated for diesels.

Where the hell did you find those for 16$? The best I found yet is Canadian Tire on sale.
