BMW Updated SW - Lost the Digital Speedometer

I had my BMW E93 serviced for the passenger seat airbag sensor and even though I asked the dealer not to update the vehicle firmware, they did it anyway. This wiped out the dashboard digital speed indicator I had programmed many years ago.

The dealer says they can't program the display to display the speed, and that I am out of luck.

I originally had the speedometer programmed by a forum member, can it still be done? I live in South Florida.

Thanks.

Absolutely. No reason it shouldn’t be just as easy as the first time.

I would probably ask for a small concession on their part to help cover your costs, too. I’m sure most folks aren’t charging an arm and a leg for a simple coding job like this, but you did tell the dealer not to update your car and they did it anyway.

If you have no Technical ability buy the Bimmergeeks Pro Tool
it's easy to operate.

I was just hoping to pay someone locally to do it.

I can do it in Tampa if you want to make the drive.

Do you have a shop other than the dealership you take your car too? Most BMW indys will know how to activate it. If they're nice they might do it for free since it takes 3 mins.

That's really nice of you. I'm on the other coast. If I can't find someone here (Jupiter) I might take you up on it. I've never been to Tampa, and I have been asking my husband to take a trip there for several years.

Not sure what someone is going to charge you locally, but like others have said might as well put that money towards bimmergeeks app, works awesome and is crazy easy to use. This way if this ever happens again you wouldn't have to pay for it again.
