320d Crankshaft/damper pulley and belts

Hi all,

My 320d M47 is making a loud rattle at idle because of a failing damper/crank shaft pulley. It has visible play when moving it by hand with the engine off, high time to change it.

My power steering belt is the stretch kind with no tensioner.

I'm trying to make a list of parts to replace everything in one go, the pulley, both belts and possibly tensioner on the drive belt side?

Power Steering belt: BMW 11287791786 - 810mm or 830mm? 4 ribs
Crankshaft pulley - any recommendations? Cheapest I've seen is BGA for 78 euros
Drive belt: 6pk1836 - 1836mm 6 ribs
Tensioner: Does this need replacing each time? Or only if it's noisy/not smooth?
Anything else?

About removing the PS belt, I've seen it done with a wedge tool and rotating the main pulley, can it be done with no special tool? Is the correct length 810 or 830?

The main pulley - any tips on removing it? Locking the flywheel doesn't seem very sensible, but the special tool is pricey alternative. If my air gun won't move it then I'll need a plan B.

Any experience from someone who has done this themselves would be great!

Locking the flywheel seems quick and easy tbh

It will also avoid rotating the engine backwards.

For the belts you should be able to get the part number from realoem.com

Isn't it dangerous to lock the flywheel with the amount of force needed to undo the pulley bolt?
