Tell me this exhaust gets better with time/miles!

I'm so thrilled with this car so I hate to not pick but wow this exhaust is so quite. As a reference I also have an X3MC that I've owned for the last 1.5 years. The difference between the two right now is night and day. Even my 6 year old commented on the difference.

Specifically I'm lacking the over run crackle/pop. Start up roar is super weak and you can tell even in Sport+ the valves are closed. X3 is sooo much louder even with ASD coded off.

I took PCD last week and put 800 miles on it since. Do I just need to wait, let the exhaust season a bit? I realize the valves will need to be opened but I'll be damned if I'm cutting this exhaust up to remove the resonators when I know the S58 sounds perfect by my taste. I've owned a few F8X and never experienced such muted fake nonsense.

Startup roar definitely doesn't get any better.

The muffler will definitely break in so don't sweat that too much.

You've definitely got some cheap/free options for more volume.

Just check out the exhaust section.

Tone gets better over time, maybe a touch louder too.

LMAO so true...

Anyone who buys this car to experience some wonderful straight-6 symphony, just save your money and buy something else. At this point, I'm just happy it doesn't sound annoying or awful. My bar is low...

...because I still own and will keep my glorious E93 V8. And I just spent 4 days driving my friend's twin-turbo AMG GTC. The G8X will never approach the sheer drama of either of these. And I don't expect it too.

So for me, I'm just happy the G8X's deeper tones sound "decent enough" not to annoy me. I don't need it to be any louder, and I certainly don't want a series of pops and bangs out the back.

Louder doesn't mean "better" in many instances.

This car sounds very good for an inline 6 turbo. With that said, do a primary resonator delete and see if you like the noise. Its very cheap and fully reversible if you do not like it.

I’d be thrilled if it sounded like my X3MC. To be honest, I didn’t even give it a second thought making the assumption that the note would be at least as loud/deep/aggressive as an SAV with the same power plant.

I’ll open the valves and put some more miles on it with hopes of getting more out of it.

Na yesterday for the first time I hooned my car with windows up and rear seats down.

With my setup(secondary cats out, resonators out, and xpipe) it sounds positively glorious inside the car.

I'm usually a windows down guy, which also sounds badass, but I was truly blown away how awesome my car sounds with the windows up.

You may not like it tho, idk.

I don't have my car yet, but I've seen and listened to tons of videos and reviews and the one thing that consistently disappoints me is the sound of the stock exhaust. But that didn't discourage me at all in purchasing the car because I know this is something that can be easily addressed with a few mods to the existing exhaust or an aftermarket system.

Disable ASD and you hear more of the exhaust and pops/crackles.

I suspect that the exhaust is getting quieter and quieter, due to emissions clamping down on noise pollution, They just don't understand there is no such thing as noise pollution when its coming from an M car.

The whole purpose of having flaps to control the exhaust valves--Corvette NPP or BMW, is "noise" control. That's why the Europeans stuck that moronic extra 'silencer' in. It does nothing else but quiet the exhaust note and add back pressure when you don't want more--especially with turbocharged engines. Another "wonderful" benefit of EVs... If you have a high performance car, you want it to sound like a high performance car. My M4C has richened the note with mileage--and I only have 1600 on it. With the valves always opened, it sounds pretty good. Far better than most turbocharged cars--especially Porsche turbo 4s on the Cayman/Boxster. And certainly as good as the turbo Audi sixes.

The Government would be much happier if we weren't in control of our own exhaust notes. California is trying to implement an ECU scan, to detect performance tunes. The things these people come up with. Annoying.
