How to remove headlight pins?
Hey guys, I'm trying to remove pin 1 from the factory harness on my 328i 07. I can't seem to figure it out though, is it even possible without damaging something? can anyone help?
I'll post some pictures of the connector, it's pin 1 the black wire green stipe that I'm trying to remove [IMG][/IMG] |

They're relatively easy to get out with just a paper clip. Insert a paper clip into the center of the hole behind the opening where the connector pin would normally go. There's a small clip that's holding it in place - the idea is to release this clip and the wire and pin pull right out of the back of the connector. Push in and down toward the connector pin, doesn't take too much force.
If you're worried about messing something up, try and grab some spare connectors at a junk yard. That's what I did, and it was easy to figure out how they're connected. |

Use the little hole above the pin. Make sure you have lifted the plastic locking tabs behind the pins. You'll need to remove the outer case from the inner part of the connector to access this, which itself is held in place with four little plastic tabs

Oh so I have to disassemble it first then try to use a paper clip to put in the hole to push the connector out, correct?

If you have a junk yard around I suggest going to pick up a spare connector to use for practice if you're worried about damaging yours. |
