BMW U.S. Price Increases (including new 7-series)
PRESS RELEASE BMW ANNOUNCES JANUARY 2009 PRICE ADJUSTMENT 12/22/2008 Woodcliff Lake, NJ – December 22, 2008...BMW of North America, LLC announced today an average price increase of 0.7 percent for BMW vehicles sold in the U.S. effective January 1, 2009. This action is driven by the ongoing structural and economical changes in the market place. It will ensure revenue generation for the company's U.S. operations and help to protect the quality of business. Pricing for the new Advanced Diesel vehicles remain unchanged. The all new 335d and X5 xDrive35d were launched recently and have begun arriving at BMW Centers this month. In addition, BMW announced pricing for the new 2009 7 Series that debuted recently at the Los Angeles International Auto Show. The base price for the 750i is $81,125 and the 750Li is 85,025 (including $825 for destination and handling). Both models began production in November and will arrive at BMW Centers in the spring. |

It was just a matter of time -- sinking sales and dollar/Euro that recently hit $1.41 -- everyone should be happy it is not more than 0.7%

I don't think the ~ $300 increase is going to stop anyone here from getting an E9x BMW...

True. I do, however, wonder how many new "options" we get next year that we took for granted as standard. I'm talking '10 MY. I'm sure the penny pinchers there already have a list waiting....

Guys, this is not all bad news for current owners. I don't know who else here is into watches, but if you are you may realize that Rolex retains its value extremely well on the used-watch market, and one of the important reasons for this is that Rolex regularly increases their prices on new watches. This elevates the value/price on the used market. Likewise, the more expensive a new Beemer becomes, the more valuable the one you are already driving is.

Didnt BMW just increase their prices for the 09 models back in October making the a vehicle equiped like the one I have 3K more????? For example leather went up, logic sound system an option in a 335, sport package went up, overall car price went up, transportation went up. Therefore for example 09 models went up 3K in october but if i ordered the car in January Ide pay 3.3K for it. Im sorry Im no penny pincher but how do you raise prices twice in 4 months on 09 models

What - no sDrive35i?
No Z4sDrive35i (is BMW planning to charge by the character)?

My God, that sounds awful. I'm praying that the sDrive badges don't make it to the 3-series.
Anyway, in terms of pricing, BMW are pulling it off. I could have gotten a CTS or a G37 for about $8000 less than the price I negotiated on my e92 335i. Could have gotten an A4 or an A5 for a couple thousand less as well. But the 335 still sold itself. The G37 competes with the 335 on paper, but in real life, I liked the 335 coupe better in just about every aspect, including exterior lines, interior quality, practicality as a daily driver and, of course, driving dynamics (I do prefer the g37 sedan's lines to the e90). Don't get me wrong, it's a great car, but it's not a 335, and I cannot help but think that, if I were to get the G37 (or the CTS for that matter), the little voice in my head would be telling me incessantly that I could have had a 335i. The C350 seems like a pretty great car, but it really doesn't compete with the 335 performance-wise. I really don't think there's another car out there now that competes with the 335 in terms of performance and premium features at a similar price point. If the S5 were a few thousand cheaper and I didn't have to wait 6+ months for one, I'd have a serious dilemma on my hands. But, considering that it would cost me an extra $8-9000 over what I've agreed to pay for my e92, that the chances of negotiating below MSRP are virtually nil, and that there aren't any financing offers from Audi on that particular model, the e92 is still a relative bargain despite the price increase from the '08 to the '09 model year, and the extra $200 BMWNA are tacking on next month. I'd still have to pay another $300+ every month to own a similarly-equipped S5. In a nutshell, it's good business by BMWNA. Hell, I'm still buying one. |

I am not an econ major, but I remember a class where it basically states that if the price of a good increases, but it is improved over the previous generation, than speaking of an economic standpoint the price did not increase.....I think it is the CPI in relation to quality of the good. But cant remember as I have been drinking LOTS of egg nog....egg nog is such a funny word.

I plan to order prior to 12/31 and I have agreed on a price with my dealer. I'm planning on paying just that amount. I was also promised that if I bought prior to year end, the finance rate would be honored at 0.9%. Not sure how he's promising me that, since BMW sets the finance rates, but we'll see.
