Electronics acting up
Hi,
I have 08 e92 328i, i've been noticing some odds things with my car, recently almost every time i use the car the dates change or reset, am getting a notice on the LCD saying Vehicle battery is discharging, turn off unnecessary electrical consumers and to reset time and date if necessary. Just wondering if anyone has had anything similar and im taking a guess its my alternator or battery that failing? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!! |

Thanks for getting back to me, do you think this would also affect the trip tronic stuff as well? the car shifts gear perfectly but in trip tronic its showing wrong gears and sometimes not shifting.

Don't know there could be other issues with that.
But before you can work on anything in these cars they must be supplied with enough voltage and current to run the electronics If the car is old and the transmission fluid has never been changed that could be part of the transmission problem . I don't buy automatics . Also this whole discussion actually belongs in the general section. This is not an audio or car entertainment electronics question. |

Go through your fuse box and probe around with a multimeter to see where power is getting drawn, although it is starting to get pretty cold out so I'd check your battery also.

Ill check with the meter, thanks for the input, i assumed the tip tronic might be somethic electrical as the gears shift fine, its just whats displayed on the cluster is a bit wacky.
Ill post back the results including the fusebox suggestion. |

So, i checked the voltage of the battery while running, was 14.6V didnt see anything in relation to the fuse box, but... pulled out all the accessories and yet to get the message of the battery being drained wile stopped. Ill post back in a week to let you know if that the case.
Still unsure about the tiptronic, so i think the alternator might be a little funky |
