There has to be something we can do about these scammer posts. I have found 30 ish this morning.

Even worse when an account with a high reputation and iTrader score posts an item for sale, you show interest, and then an account with a nearly-identical cloned name messages you to try to scam you. All while the original account never contacts you to protect that original account.

Yep.
I try to make a post quoting the scammer to alert people. I also have written a few posts of how to spot a scammer.

Example number six gazillion for why the site admins should close down all classifieds sections and ban anyone who posts a for-sale item in the forums. There are plenty of other venues to sell items online, and most of them have dedicated scam-fighting teams to protect buyers and sellers.....

When I find 30+ I'm not going message you directly on every one.. And yes I report every one, I also quote every post with a "Spammer" massage.

Seriously Mods, I appreciate all the things you deal with. I get immensely more value out of Bimmerpost than the absolutely nothing I have to pay to access it.

Thanks to everyone for pointing this out, I’ve setup about 80 bans on these guys and they should all soon be eradicated. Going forward if you see any more (especially with their new and inventive techniques) just let me look and ill go after some more!

For those of you who replied to them pointing out they are scammers, that was a good move for the community, however now since they are banned, their spam lives on via your post quote. Its hopefully obvious to ppl you were quoting a spammer, but it could be useful to go back and delete your posts so there is no record of their scam/spam numbers

Brandoch for the last two you that you tagged. What do you think the scam is there? They are trying to fool the seller into sending them items without paying?

I’m trying to figure out the pattern and can’t come up with one

Period at the end of the username name, 6 posts each (seems to be a theme with the other ones), posting on different types of FS threads (from G80 wheels to F80 drive shafts and then "i just sold mine" or "i didn't see this in time" on a 2 year old post).

Agree they are not legit, but do you have a sense what the actual scam is? Just wondering…

My only guess is to fool the average person with a similar user name (period at the end) and scam them in the DMs.
I have seen 20+ posts of users posting on a FS threads saying that they were just scammed by the OP. After a quick look they realize that they were talking to a scammer (with a period at the end of the user name)
Those patterns have constant for a year now.
If I'm over-stepping please let me know.

That’s an interesting claim, considering that even a basic forum user can click on a screen name and see exactly which account is sending messages. In this case, the account “f10andrii” itself responded to my WTB post and then texted me directly — it was not a separate impersonating account.
