I screwed up the Aux input
I had a friend replace a parking brake cable. The aux input shares that space under the center arm rest and when I got the car back the Aux was dead. I popped out the aux box and noticed the plug was bent. I straightened it but the wires came out of their plug. I can’t get them back in. Now I’m not even sure that was the problem because I got no volts on any of the 3 pictured wires with a multimeter. Not sure I should. What could I do with a multimeter to see if the issue is elsewhere and not this bent plug while I wait on a new Aux female receptor?
I’ve ordered a generic female aux receptor. Does anyone know which wire is left? Right? And ground? |

It would be helpful if you would attach a clear photo, showing the COLORS of the 3 or 4 wires, where they attach to the A267a Aux Connector, and ALSO, the next connector down from the Aux Connector, which I Assume is what is shown in your photo attached to Post #1.
The ISTA wiring diagrams for YOUR 2009 E93 328i show FOUR (4) wires attached to A267a, namely: 1) Shielded Cable; 2) Violet Aux Gnd; 3) White/Red Aux Left Channel; 4) White/Green Aux Right Channel. Your photo shows 3 wires: White/Red, White/Blue, White/Brown. We need a CLEAR photo of the Aux Connector, A267a, & then a clear photo of the wires that run to the NEXT Connector, presumably what YOU have shown. The wires for the USB port are Brown, Green, Orange & Blue. If the USB port is working OK, please do NOT bother showing/tracing those. George |

I should have clarified that this car did not come with a USB, just a 3.5mm aux.
I don’t think it has a shielded cable, just these 3 wires. Last edited by MaconPaul; 01-07-2026 at 09:45 AM.. |

Update. I broke the plug that plugs into the Aux female box. I took it apart because it was bent and then the plastic broke completely so I assumed this was the problem. It turns out the bent plug was probably working fine. I replaced 3.5mm receptor with a generic one. (See photo) I used the purple serpentine as ground, red striped right and green stripped left. I then disassembled the center rear console unique to the coupes and cabs and found my mechanic had left it unplugged at a location about foot below the 3.5mm jack. The connection hides in a cloth wrapped Velcro thing so I see why he didn’t see it.
It’s all back together now and working good. |
