Hot air on driver side, cold air on passenger side with heat turned on

Anyone know the fix? I was told it may be the blend door actuator? Is that behind the dashboard? Anyone replaced this and everything was fine thereafter?

Your description of the issue so far suggests a fault in the Right Mixed-Air Flap Motor, or its wiring. BEFORE ordering any parts, or taking anything apart, you should DIAGNOSE.

You probably have the Fault Code 9C49 saved in the Fault Memory of the IHKA or Climate Control Module. The nearest AutoZone, Advance Auto, or other large Parts Chain, should be able to read Fault Codes in that Module, FREE. If you do NOT have access to a Scan Tool or diagnostic software (INPA/ISTA) that can read faults in the IHKA Module, please get a Parts Store to read the codes & report back with ALL IHKA Fault Codes.

There are 8 different Flap Motors in your 328i. There are TWO different Flap Motors for changing between Heating & Cooling, one for the Right/Passenger Vents, & one for the Left/Driver Vents. You might also perform the following tests (with warm engine & T-Stats set to 84/hottest) & report your findings here:
1) Press the Defrost button on the right of the IHKA Control Panel. Within 30 seconds (allowing time for flap movement), air from Windscreen vents on Left Hotter than air from Windscreen vents on Right?

2) Press Footwell Vent button on bottom-left of control panel, is there hot air into Driver Footwell, but not hot into Passenger Footwell?

When you report back with IHKA fault code(s) & answers to questions above, please also provide:
A) Last-7 Characters of VIN;
B) Make/Model of any Scan Tool available to you.

Upon receipt of that information, I'll attach ISTA ScreenPrints of wiring diagram, Flap Motor Location, & Specific Instructions for how to access either the wiring or flap motor, & how to test.

gbalthrop,

Thank you, very much. I do have the ProTools app. I will pull the codes with that and then do the steps you listed above. I'll post my results.

Thank you, again!
