Bimmerfest 2009, Santa Barbara, CA

So all of a sudden I thought of it yesterday and lo and behold, I got an email minder in the inbox today...so who's going? This year there's a new venue, supposedly bigger and better?! Will see...

I go to school here at UCSB and let me just say the new venue is going to be really nice. Bigger than last year and we get to park on the grass.... Can't Wait!!!

I hate Santa Barbara!

Don't mind me. It's a beautiful town. I just have memories of being arrested there and it's tainted my view of the whole place.

i saw the pics and the place looks awesome. however i remember that there were a lot of douches last year in the parking lot revving and doing little burn outs. I'm wondering how the hell the people who own the polo club gave the ok for hundred of cars to be parked in the grass? I'm going to assume that there will be other douches that may do some damage to the field. Thoughts?

I'll probably get there the day before and do some wine tasting so I'll be nice and hung over.

The caravan can be nice definitely if there is no traffic and everyone drive sanely.

I didn't go last year, but I heard there were a bunch of folks who tried to park on the 101 to take pix.

The whole point of a caravan is to cruise together, not a Gumball 3000 race, lol.

Yeah that morning when my friends and I were caravaning there were a ton of douche bags parked on the shoulder on 101 being douches and they were all creeping onto the lane waving everyone down to try and get everyoen to stop... probably to take pics or what not. Idiots.

Other than that the drive was nice. yes there were a ton of chps and made all of us nervous.. esp not having a front plate, but they didn't give us any trouble. The only people who got pulled over were the ones acting like a douche. lol

Yeah, agree. There were a bunch of caravans formed from all over the south land, that's SoCal for those of you who are not familiar. I was with a group (12-15 cars) started in San Grabriel and we were relatively civil...caravan leaders were driving at reasonable speeds. We started early, so there was no traffic, but as we got close to the SB, traffic got worse and yeah, there were people pulling to the side taking pix

CHP pulled over an M3 and a Porsche 911..must've been racing...totally deserved the tix.

Hopefully there are caravans formed up this time around..I'll join in

I think when we left from LA we had about 20 cars in our caravan and as soon as we merged onto 101 there was a ton of e46 that we merged with. Bimmer were taking up the entire freeway. that was pretty cool

I think the pix of them were posted on here. Some even tried to run out to the lanes to take pix. Running out to open lanes where cars are driving at 70+ MPH is probably not the best idea.

I just hate how a few rotten apples can ruin it for everyone. If a CHP or what have you see one or two BMW's early on doing stupid stuff, they're going to be looking out for all BMW's that will pass through later on.
