Huper Optik GONE - Say Hello to Formula One Pinnacle! *PICS*

Well after I had the Huper Optik 30 installed on my car for nearly two months it's gone (due to installer issues) and Formula One Pinnacle 30 now graces the depths of my 330i's windows. I think it looks fantastic. To me the Huper Optik has to much of a blue finish and doesn't look factory done. Don't get me wrong, the Huper Optik is a good film and even great when installed properly but the Pinnacle looks like BMW tint should.

Oh and for those of you that I just know are going to be selectively reading and miss the part where I said I got the Huper Optik removed due to installer issues, I'll elaborate further so there's more typing here and you might actually notice it. After I got the HO installed I found a bunch of bubbles in the tinting that the installer said would go away within a few days. Well much to my unamazement, they didn't and upon closer inspection they didn't go away because there were tiny hairs inside the bubbles stuck between the tint and the glass. The installer assured me that sometimes this happens and because it's not factory done it's not going to be perfect. So after a few weeks of not knowing what to do I decided I'd get it removed and get a new tinting job elsewhere. To make a long story short, after the guy canceled my appointment to get the tint removed 3 times I figured he was planning on not removing it the entire time and had it removed by the new guys (the pros), Formula One of Bradenton. I paid an extra $100 to have it removed but at least it was removed professionally and without damage to my rear defoggers as I know if the inital installer would have removed it he would have done a half ass job and today I'd only have half of my defoggers left.

So I might have come out of it $100 poorer, but I'm very happy with the tint (no bubbles whatsoever upon super inspection) and I think it all turned out very well. I also have been remembering not to roll down the windows this time (with the HO I did it twice within the first three days by mistake).

Here are before and after pics (in the BEFORE shot my car looks better but only because it was taken around noon and the AFTER shot was taken around 6PM):

Formula One Pinnacle (AFTER)

Curious, isn't the tint bluish because the sky is blue and in the Formula One photo, the sky is overcast?

Either way, both tints look great!

$100 FOR REMOVAL?! Damn, they only charge me to put new tints back on, not remove them, and thats only a $40 fee.

Nice tints, but why 30% thats hardly anything, I have 15% and sometimes I wish I had gone 5%.

Besides the bluish tint and 'hair' problem, how did the Huper Optik work in terms of reducing heat?

Exactly. Lighting and angles make a huge difference went taking pics of tint. Nice tint though...sorry the installer couldn't hack it with HO.

Geez if it was just a question of the blueish, you coulda gotten Llumar or Sunguard (sp?). They look like that Pinnacle.

I have HO, i think it looks very classy. I have the 40 though, so its not that dark.

Same here... now I just have to find a place around here that carries it. Any place I've asked about Hüper Optik, just looks at me like I'm speaking another language.

believe it or not, my college roomate (potluck) was named Viral. Freaked me out when i saw the little paper ducky stuck on the door with my name on one and "Viral" on the other. I wasn't sure if that was his name or if my soon to be dorm room was being quarantined.

Well, Viral is an Indian name and is pretty rare, so I don't know if your buddy falls into that category.
