Decipher H&R Sport springs
I've recently bought some springs for my 328i E90. Can someone help me decipher the numbers on these springs, so I can make sure I got the right product?
Front: H&R S/Z KBA 91042 29187 VA (F) Rear: H&R B/S KBA 91042 29187 VA (R) I believe these are part numbers, but I can't seem to find these numbers anywhere on this site. Thanks! |

These springs are apparently for the 1 series. I will contact my vendor tomorrow and see what he says.
Does anyone know if the springs will work or is this vendor trying to rip me off? |

So I called H&R directly and the person who picked up the phone confirmed these springs are for my 2007 328i e90. She said something about 29187 makes 50490. One is an internal number and another an external number, or something like that. Who would have guessed?
Still don't really get how anyone can confirm they were shipped the right parts without calling H&R. |

Off the top of my head since I just dealt with some brand new sport springs from an E90.
But thanks for the smart boy comment. ![]() Take pictures of the springs and I will tell you if you have the correct springs. |

i had the same question because i happened to work on my car (2008 e90 328i) one day and i looked at the h&r sport springs number on the side of the springs and it says 29187, but if you look on the h&r website it lists 50490 for the e90. i did a little bit of research (on this forum actually) and what i found from the numerous previous posts was that 29187 is the european part number for the h&r e90 sport springs, while 50490 is the us part number. supposedly there is a height difference (i believe the front drop for both part numbers is 1.3" for the fronts, but the european version says 0.8" drop and the us version is 1.2" drop for the rear). however, from all the posts the consensus seems to be that these are the same product, just with different numbers stamped on them for some reason.
here are some of the relevant posts i found when researching this issue before: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ighlight=29187 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ighlight=50490 here's the relevant part from this post: "I'll try to organize these by the amount of lowering they offer from least agressive to most agressive. ALL LOWERING MEASUREMENTS ARE BASED ON THE STANDARD SUSPENSION, NOT SPORTS SUSPENSION. Obviously, if you have the sports suspension, then these options will lower the car a bit less then listed here. ---------------- Springs: 0.6" --> OEM Stock BMW Sports Suspension 1.2" / 1.0" --> Eibach Pro-Kit (part # 2085.140) 1.2" / ???? --> KW Automotive Springs (part # 25020058) 1.2" / ???? --> Hartge Sport Springs 1.3" / 1.2" --> H&R Sport Springs (part # 50490) 1.35" / 0.8" --> H&R Sport Springs (part # 29187-1) (** Europe-Part# ** this is aparently the same spring as the 50490 but with different lowering listings for some reason.) 1.57" / 1.3" --> Hamann Progressive Springs (part #20 090 120) 1.8" / 0.8" --> H&R Race Springs (part # 29183-1) (** Europe only **) 2.0" / 1.4" --> Eibach Sportline (part # 4.0285) hope this helps you out. |

Malekreza, your welcome, I take pride in my smart a$$ remarks.
I don't have a good camera right now so I won't be able to take pictures of it. But the springs are dark gray, with the above numbers in my first post on each coil. after talking with H&R, I'm sure I have springs that will fit my car. Now just not sure if it will the US drop or European one. xxmuzk, thanks for finding those posts. I am more confused now though. I hope mine are more like the 1.3"/1.2" drop. I'd prefer a more uniform lowering. Thanks! |

you should be fine, as i also have the same 29187-marked springs as you do. my car is pretty level, and is NOT raking forward as you might think would be the case with the european specs. in fact my car has a little less than 1 finger gap in the front, and the rears are about flush with the fenders, so it should look great on your car. i also have a speaker box in the trunk so that might contribute to the rear being ever so slightly lower than it would normally be without the extra weight. post pics after you're done so we can see. good luck.
