e92 Interior Mood ambient Lights - So Sweet!

The 2007 e92 has some amazing red LED interior mood lights that go along the entire door strip and in the back seats.
Not sure if this is only for the e92 of if they will add it to the 2007 e90.

When would these come on? Not while you're driving, I hope.

They come on when your headlights are on. The lights are not as bright as they seem. In fact, you can hardly notice it. But when you get out of the streetlights and on the highway, it creates a very cool feel for the interior.

To take this picture I had to use 1600iso film and expose the shot for about 8 seconds, not to mention the picture was lightened in Photoshop.

Could be a pretty interesting picture if you cropped out everything to the right of the A-pillar and most of the window in the top photo. Keep the orientation the same. Something like this:

Does the e92 have amber colored ambiant lights shining down from the header area (near the map lights) like the e90? Or did BMW replace the ambiant glow from lights above with these side ambiant lights for the e92?

.psd, thanks for those pictures. Everybody who ordered the light package was waiting for shots like those. If you've got more, please post them!

My impression was that these are in addition to the overhead ambient lights already on the e90. I'm sure someone can confirm or deny -

Very nice. When i test drove the 335i, the headlights came on, but there was enough sunlight that I didn't see these. I was wondering what they looked like.

I'm in Canada and they are standard on CAD models.
Again, this light is very, very suttle. The first time i noticed it was when i put my hand below the doorhandle at night and noticed that there was a light there. I thought it was only above the actual door handle, but it ended up extending all the way across the door.
For those shots I had to get in the back seat, fold down the driver seat and point the camera almost under the armrest. So they are well hidden but still give off the light.

I can also see this being a MOD that people will be working on to get them brighter and or switch out with different colours. That is, if you really want to cheese out your car.

Same lighting as the interior of a 7 series, they're on depending on your instrumentation lighting i.e. gauge, idrive, ambience lighting (reareviewmirror). You can dim them and turn them off.

the bmw site on the e92 has a section discussing them to you... it's a smart little feature. wish you could dial up the intensity of them as you wish.
