Jb3 Map 3 not that much faster than stock?

I did a few quick runs with my cousin today

he has a 100% stock e92 335i, with a full tank of 91 and crappy tires

I have a BMS DCI, JB3 Map3 e93 335i with a half tank of 91 with 285/30/18 in the back and 245/35/18 in the front with pretty good thread

We did some runs, and well... from a stop, I killed... but.. from a 40mph roll, he kept up until I hit 3rd, where I took off...

But... i thought that a Jb3 would be faster in all gears...

From a stop, my tires with better traction are what most likely help me the most...

if i remember right, BMWUSA says the e93 is 4025lbs stock
take off maybe 20lb since i have a CF hood, and 5lbs each rim, and prly another few lbs each tire since they arent RFTs

But I weigh 225lbs and he only weighs 145.. so any weight i might have saved is gone since i weigh so much more than him...

I think you answered your own question. You have probably a good 500lbs lugging around extra. Thats like riding deep with 3 extra passengers, heck my stock 335i sedan feels very dragged down when I have even 2 passengers.

But I would think that it'd still do a bit better in 2nd gear...

1st I win cause of traction
2nd tie more or less
3rd I win but not by much until i pass 100....

If I remember correctly 10lbs = 1hp...dont know if that exactly true but thats what i've read...so if you're 500lbs heavier than his car then that 50hp and consider you still beat him in all runs by a fair amount then that sounds about right...

btw i didnt know the verts weighed so much more

Yup, 500lbs is about a 50hp disadvantage. Secondly, it is hard to stop/start any kind of pull once you are at speed when the other person has the initial momentum. As I said before, there is only a few mph difference in traps between a car with dozens more HP, and that few mph won't make you walk that other car as much as you would hope.

Well, i DID beat the coupe... soo, a jb3 map 3 with dci on 91...

a m3?

full set of everything... fmic, dp, mp, dci/cai, tune (jb3 map 12 anyone??) procede stage 3... to name a few... meth would most likely push it to the top

but then, if you're going against an e93 m3, it'll be easier than an e92 one

tonight really made me want DPs cause with them, I'd fly lol

You need ~50rw just to make up the 400#+ weight difference of the vert! Map 3 on 91 is probably around ~60rw in 70 degree weather. So sounds right to me.

Depends on octane. Map 5 on 93 is around 70rw I think.

Yep and the average stock dyno is probably 275whp maybe a bit higher.

The more mods the more power! It's just an average based on customer dyno sheets I've seen. I've seen some customers make less on 91, and some more. The lowest I've ever seen is 30rw and the highest 90rw vs. a baseline. So the type of dyno, conditions, modifications, and the car itself are also very important factors on low octane 91 fuel.

+1, and for every 100lbs you lose .1 of a second off your 1/4 mile time
