Taiwan people~ question on cell phones
Going to Taiwan in 3 days and was planning to buy a pre-paid SIM card in the airport. Then one of my friends from TW told me that is no longer allowed and I must have a TW ID in order to buy one???
Is this true? Also which company service provider do you recommend? Thanks! |

If you buy it at the airport terminal they will let you, you just need to show them your US passport. It's tougher once you are outside the airport. I was there this May.

Koreans are the worst in Asia when it comes to stuff like this and I doubt it is difficult to get a sim card here in Taipei. Of all the places that I have visited (in Asia) the only place that I know of which does not offer tourists and visitors GSM SIM cards is Korea! I'm pretty sure you can pretty much pick one up at a 7-11 or any cell phone shop here in Taipei.
