Window auto up/down problem

Hey guys, I drive a 2008 e90 335i and I've noticed for a while that the windows will not auto roll up when the doors are open. To be more clear, when my doors are open and I try to close my windows using the auto-up switch, it won't automatically roll-up but instead requires me to hold the button. I brought up this issue at my dealer when I went in for service and they told me that it is designed like that for all pre-2009 e9x models. Is this true? and is there anyway to change it? my friend's 09 e90 lci doesn't seem to have this problem.

No way to change it. It's the way the car is.

seriously? no software change or anything? its so annoying having to hold the window buttons up if my passenger opens the door before the windows are up. almost ruins the purpose of auto up/down

Like some other items, it *may* be adjustable through some special command with a special tool, but I'm not aware of any such hidden setting. Someone more familiar with the sneaky bits may know something I don't.

I doubt there is much to do about it. It is a very specific request so not likely a commercially viable aftermarket fix. I think you will just have to keep your door shut when you are rolling up your windows.

On my 2009 e92 the auto-up feature won't work either when the door is open and the engine is not running (but accessories are powered). Haven't tried it with the engine running.

the '09 model is just not as safe as the older ones, costs cutting due to the recession

Just kidding ....

I honestly don't know why, but they should all operate like this when the door is open, it's just safer aint it? Did you see your buddies car do this auto up/down with the door open, with your own ?

Seriously? Is this post really happening? Are we so concerned with holding a little button with our hands?

Haha, Ok I'll agree that it is a minor annoyance. Since you have a sedan you could use tape and a coin to keep the little button down. You know that one that lets the car know if the door is open? Then you can auto open and close to your heart's content.

Note, DO NOT do this on the coupe as the glass moves down a bit when you open the door.

The e92 windows are frameless so this would not apply however you still cannot auto up the windows with the doors open.
