Top Speed on 335i
Ok so,
I was on the freeway about a week ago with two other people in my car, e92 335i, and I hit about 150-155. What I want to know is if there is a limiter that can be taken off or adding something that will eliminate it. Thanks |

Man your a f'ing idiot! Why would you go that fast on a public road with 2 other people in your car? Next time you try to kill yourself I suggest you do it alone.

Dinan also removes the limiter.
Hey guys does anybody have a link or a thread about that dude in the M5 or whatever who decided to top speed it and he lost control and shredded the car flying in a tree ? ppp

Your right though... Only reason anyone should be doing more than 150 is if your racing, leave that crap for the track... Not only are you putting yourself and your friends in danger, but what about other motorists on the road? This is one of the reasons why BMW drivers are looked at poorly in some places, because majority of the owners think that because we drive BMW's were authorized to drive like it's the autobahn...

I've managed to go up to 305 km/h on the speedo (ca. 189 mph) with mine before I ran out of straight road. I assume that with my next additional mods I could reach around 320-325 on the speedo. That will have to wait until spring, though, as my winter tires are limited to 270 right now.
All the flash tuners (ESS, GIAC, Dinan, Evotech...) eliminate the speed limiter. Alpina_B3_Lux P.S. I would assume that without any mods the stock 335i should be good for around 270 km/h (ca. 167 mph). P.P.S. These high speed drives were done on an unlimited German Autobahn, obviously.

I took my stock 335i up to 155 just once 2 weeks after I got the car to see what it could do and it was limited at that speed. I was not on a track but I was on a mile long 4 lane-one way traffic bridge with absolutely no other cars on it and perfect visibility...It was a bridge that led to a beach and since it was a crappy day in the fall/winter there was virtually no traffic anywhere in the vicinity but I also even waited 5 minutes to make sure there were no other cars...so if anything were to ever happen there would be no chance what so ever of anyone even remotely getting hurt besides myself - which I took full responsibility for. There are absolutely no tracks of any kind anywhere near me and I am not defending anyone who drives recklessly on public roads in traffic as I also hate this and would never do it - but if you are familiar with an area and know of a place like the bridge I described AND you can physically see there are no other cars then I don't have a problem with that. If there were a track near me I would do that instead but there isn't.

To all they guys that said what I've done was stupid,
I just want to say that when I was doing this, this was on a CLOSED ROAD. Meaning there were no other people around me for miles. As far as the people in my car, we each had helmets. This was just an event kinda thing on a closed road. Didn't want anyone to get the wrong idea. |

BMS is now selling a speed limiter defeat which is AA's unit.
From last i was reading, BMS is not going to offer something to remove the limiter, so if you want it off, the AA unit is going to be for you. |

Are you aware of how this is accomplished? I heard from a pretty well versed person here that it's done by tricking the ECU into thinking it's going slower. That would mean the car's stability, traction, and ABS controls are responding to completely different parameters then are actually occurring. Awesome when you're going 150+

Here's a vid of my top speed run:
[u2b]<object width="853" height="505"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/RrRIcMAuczg&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0x402061&color2=0 x9461ca"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/RrRIcMAuczg&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0x402061&color2=0 x9461ca" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="853" height="505"></embed></object>[/u2b] My car was stage 1 then, as far as I remember. I think I could hit 300-305 km/h on GPS now. Will try it in spring.
