Comfort Access & Running Tips...
Question:
What do people do with their fairly large key when running? Do you carry it, or put it somewhere? For instance - I go to a park or track (or some other place where I don't have access to a locker at the time), and go for a run or other workout. I don't want to carry my key with me while working out, but I also don't want to leave it with the car (as I would have done in the past on a tire or something) since then the car could be easily opened. Any thoughts or tips? Cheers! Chris

If you can get a arm band kind of bag you can place it in there. This is what i do or I place it in a pair of shorts/pants with a zip-up pocket.
My last suggestion would be to wear some spandex tights/shorts under your running gear, put your key in a small plastic bag and then put the key in the spandex tights on your leg or something. All 3 have worked for me since I have comfort access as well.

All good suggestions. Let me throw a wrench in the works.
I am in the Army, and, on occasion, do physical training with the unit to which I am assigned. Usually 2-3 times a week. When I do, I must wear the authorized PT uniform. Summer PT uniform is shorts with no pockets (well, a very small pocket that will hold the flat ID card, and that's about it. Can't carry ipod, and probably ought not carry keys in hand... Spandex might work, though I don't like to wear spandex. Winter is no problem since the jacket has zip up pockets. Thanks for advice thus far... Cheers! Chris

CA & Running Tips
I'm also a runner and this is what I do.
I've deliberately arranged my FOB so all my keys are attached to the side with the removable key. I then separate the FOB (similar to what you would do when you valet park) and place my keys out of view (glovebox, center console, etc). I retain my FOB (oblong part) place it in my socks, exit the car and and then lock it up (finger on ridges). My FOB never moves around in my socks, even on long runs. When finished, I return to car, open door, reassemble keys and off I go. Works for me. Thanks, Donna |

I run a lot and had the same thoughts. I have my key fob on it's own ring that attaches to the my main ring with all the keys. When I run I just detach the key fob from the main ring and stick it in my pocket. I don't even notice it's there. I run with baggy gym shorts so it might be an issue if you wear tight shorts.
On a side note. What do people here do after working out so you don't get your seats wet with sweat? I have a large beach towel to cover the leather. I cut a hole on one side of the towel to hook over the headrest so the towel won't slide down while I drive. It looks a little getto but I don't give a sh!t, my seats stay clean and dry. |

Hmm..I was in the navy, our newer pt uniform(should still be the same bright yellow crap now)..anyways the little pocket that your talking about, is where i had my key fob. I'm assuming it's the one thats sorta hidden on the inside of the shorts right? Anyways i don't carry keys with my fob, so i just keep it there. Otherwise, I've seen people stick the ID in the sock, maybe you can put the fob there? Dunno about smell and sweaty fob tho

Cosmop,
For the seats I did purchase the BMW seat covers. They slide on and off pretty easily. That way I can put them on when I need to (on really sweaty/muddy/rainy days). Good key info. I'll try a few and keep y'all posted! Cheers! Chris

military is really picky about colors and style. They make you buy "official" products that aren't worth the price, but since it's required you don't really have a choice..mine cost like 15-20$ and bad fitting, and style is from like the 80's

Remove the metal key from the fob, leave the fob in the car and lock the car using the metal key. If I'm not mistaken, the car will not open using the CA feature even though the fob is inside the car. Now you only have to carry the small metal key.
