Hi, I figured I'd cross post here, since this thing sounds like it might be A/V related.
Can you please take a look at my post here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=347218 Trying to figure out what this thing is under the driver's steering wheel (attached to the panel) and how to figure out if it works. I was worried I might have broken it when pulling on it too hard. . . . |

It is the MOST fiber optics bus diagnostics connector. It is used to connect programming equipment that can be used to code new modules, diagnose issues, etc. It has a loop connector attached to it at the end. Do not remove that connector because you will brake the MOST fiber loop and your Bluetooth, satellite, USB and other MOST attached devices won't work. The two (green I think) cables connected to it are actually fiber optic cables that have fiber (glass) strands in them. Do not bend them much or pull them.

I just found this - and thanks for cross-posting! I had my clutch replaced a few days ago and ever since then I have no audio/BT/radio or door/key/warning chimes! I cannot believe the malfunction just coincided with the time of the work, and is not connected in some way.
I don't know much about cars, but in a 2006 330xi with manual transmission, would this panel/area have been messed with in order to replace the clutch? |

They might have been working in that area if they replaced anything around the pedal
or where trying to pump the clutch when they replaced the master cylinder. Its just a break (test point)in the optic loop that goes to the amplifier and bluetooth and satalite radio modules in the trunk . also see my response in the other thread you posted here.
