Logic 7 retrofit?
I have a 2007 335 parts car with Nav/logic7.
my 2006 330 has the regular stereo. I dont want to do the nav conversion, but I'd love to make my stereo sound as good as the logic 7. What do I need to rip out of the parts car to make it happen? I'd imagine my harness wouldnt be correct. If so, is there a retrofit harness that can be purchased? Thanks guys, -Anthony |

dude, i hate say this. but i dont think it will work at all.
you can change the tweeters, mids, and subs to l7 but it wont be the same. you need a new amp, and two new door sides to the rear car doors and you have to fit two more mids there. and u also have to fit a mid in the middle of your dash i think. its too much work, i dont know if its possible. my tip to you if you wantr better sound. change subs to earthquake sws-8 and change the current mids and tweets to l7. and add another amp . bp tha555 is easy. correct me if im wrong |

heh see, i was actually going to go the THA route.. but I figured "hmm, I have a smashed up 335 that I could rob all parts needed....... and it would cost me nothing"
hopefully someone who has done it.. or researched it further can chime in and say for sure whats required. I'll most likely go the route you've suggested as I could save a few bucks by using the speakers from the 335. I didnt even know my 330 had subs under the seats. Are they the same as the L7? |

I was planning on a Logic 7 retrofit as well. I already have the Logic 7 amp, harness and a CCC which is coded for the Logic 7.
My plan was to just rewire the Logic 7 connector at the amp using the existing harness that is in the car and then strip the wires that I need for the missing speakers from the spare harness and run these to the right places thus minimizing the amount of cannibalizing/routing of cables that I would need to do.

I don't see this as being productive. You're better off adding aftermarket speakers and amps. To retrofit the L7 you would need a new HU with the L7 processing and the matching amp to use that optical output plus all the wiring. The amp alone is upwards of $700...unless you're lucky and find a used one on the forum for cheap (like there was about a month ago, don't know if it's still available). L7 subs and enclosures are 399 each. In short, it's not worth it. Start small...get new speakers for the doors, SWS-8s for the underseat subs. If you aren't pleased with the sound get an amp to power the speakers. Still not happy? Add a trunk sub. Doing all of the previous will be allot cheaper than retrofitting the L7 and will sound better if done properly. Just search this sub section...there are many people who have upgraded their factory speakers with little modifications to fit.

Ohhh so I missed the part about the 335 being a parts car. I guess it would be better to use those parts instead of aftermarket. Disregard my last post. Someone please chime in on this (Technic? or VPE?); Maybe all you need to do is recode the 330HU so it has an optical output. Then just run the optical line and drop the L7 amp and speakers in. If not I'm assuming you just need a new HU with L7 processing.

You need to either take the whole audio harness off this car or buy it new at the dealer, as it is quite different from your HiFi harness.; there's no OEM Logic7 retrofit.
Recoding the OEM HU is the easy part. |

Do you think it would just be easier for me to go the TFA amplifier route, and use the stock L7 front speakers from the 335? |

that's what i would do
install the logic 7 speakers and add an afternmarket amp will sound much better than stock Logic 7 anyway and without using sound processing |

I would just replace the OEM amp with a 5- or 6-channel amp first before replacing the OEM speakers. In the worst case, I would do amp and a pair of SWS-8 first in a HiFi system.
