Depending on the backend functionality, that's not unreasonable. I assume you'll still have to pay for domain registration and monthly hosting fees. You may also have to pay for software licensing if there is a cost for the shopping cart software.

I'm not saying that the visual design of the site is any good, but even if he's customizing something that already exists, we're talking at least 10+ hours of work...

The guy who designed it wants $500 from me.

is this a fair price ?

www.utradeonline.ca
If he fixes the errors necessary to make it XHTML 1.0 strict:

http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=ht...Inline&group=0

and does something about the hideousness of this image:

and if it meets the specifications you asked for, then yes, it would be fair.

$16.66 an hour isn't bad, it wouldn't be bad if he only worked half that time to be honest.

He lied. Most website providers will give you free web design software that would give you the exact functionality and look for free.

My grandmother could design a better site in less time. If he spend 30hrs, hes retarded.

Absolutely. I'll just need you SS# and a list of banks you currently have accounts with. She'll have a full flash site running 18 minutes post wire transaction to the islands.

That is cheap, and you get what you pay for. The sites my company makes start at $3,000 and can go up to $20,000. (Large agencies can go past 6 figs) It all depends. But I'm talking about high-end design, not some student or someones brothers cousin.

so many designers out there think they have talent and they DONT!!!! 99% of freelancers out there would never have a chance of being hired at an agency.

there is no "design" there. what you see, is one the default skins that came with this cart. for an inexperienced person installing something like that takes about 30 minutes, even if they are developmentally challenged. the products looks like demo data that usually comes with these shopping charts.

how the hell did you find this dude? does he have a portfolio of some sort that you checked out first?

there is this one chick... she's pretty good. lol

I started using Magento Ecommerce to deploy all my client webstore... they are all $3000+

You get what you pay for... I can do it for $300 too.. I will just install it with the default template and give it to you.
