I'd say the audi would be blowing coil packs (FWIW usually only the turbo models blow Cp's, however im sure the s4 has its own flaws elsewhere) , and the beemer would be blowing fuel pumps....
Leaves you with one big German head ache LOL |

Same motor as my S5 6MT. I had the S5 for a month. Glad I'm out of it. Had the same 4.2 V8. Probably the worst car I've ever owned the driving feel can't compare and neither can the power delivery.

The 4.2 V8 has nitorious carbon build up. Saw an engine with 15k miles that looked more like 50k

well i just liked the aggressive power delivery, no power band, it just kept on going, and off course the AWD helped, the one i drove was an 04 with 97k on it, they wanted $17k, way too much!! but overall it felt like a raw sports car, where as the 335 feels like a refined sports car, i hope the mods im doing will make it feel more peppy and responsive to drive. The audi was more of a drivers car, downside was gas consumption, and finish.

The b6/b7's are pigs,
That engine is not responsive or very strong, couple that with the awd and audi's notorious curb weight and the 335 is easily a faster/better driving dynamic car. The 335 also gets a lot better fuel economy... Get a tune and you'll be wondering why you held onto the Audi for so long! |

the V8 S- engines had very similar characteristics to the S54 3.2 BMW engine - linear pulling power, where it got stronger at higher RPM. Problem is that the redline isn't as high. It lacked the low end grunt you'd expect from a V8.
I remember my friend had an issue with his 04's timing chain -Although it was considered "maintenance", it required pulling the engine for access. |

Simple fix, buy a AMG C63. Your only headache will be replacing the rear tires once a year.

well to me the S4 i drove felt more responsive than a stock 335, however i agree, the bmw is better quality, better gas mileage, and after this weekend with my jb3/clutch stop, cdv delete all fitted, im hoping my 335i will come alive, i have the jb2 already which helps but my car is still missing the low end grunt i felt on the S4.

Once an Audi mechanic told that AUDI cars are glorified VW.
VW is like the GM of Europe http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen C/P The Porsche Cayenne, introduced in 2002, shares its entire chassis with VW Touareg and Audi Q7, which are built at the Volkswagen factory in Bratislava. |

Lol I replace mine every 4 months. Under normal driving conditions. That's 3 times a year. Show me which tires you're using. Even the S65 doesn't blow through tires like that. |

The N54 (as with all direct injected motors) has carbon build issues as well. I just brought mine to the dealer to get it all cleaned out-it was severely gunked up to the point that valves were sticking.

My roomate has a B6 S4...and the thing doesn't drive at all how the OP described it. 1st gear is awesome...but after that it falls short. It also handles like a sport minivan.

i didn't think this topic would run this long, took the girlfriend out to look at cars today, drove a merc, audi, vw, then an 07 328i, she now knows what she wants, that in itself is a miracle, the bmw all the way is what she said, she wants the 335i but cant afford it, which is fine by me
