software update..how does bmw do it?

how does bmw update the software in your car? through the diagnostic port under the dash? or do they actually have to take the ecu out?

also, if the frm has to be reset, is this through the diagnostic port as well?

the update is performed throught the obd2 port in the cabin.

All modules are updated incl. the frm
The update can take ages depending on spec, normally the ccc taking the most time

probably like 90% of the updated users. hate it. Loss of power, more turbo lag, and everything is reset. You should drive your car a good 500 miles before it gets use to everything.

Actually, I like the new software. What I don't like is the trouble-prone installation procedures. I've been updated twice -- the first time, it took 3 visits (!) to get all the bugs out and everything working properly.

The second time it only took one visit, but they had the car for 3 days...

The reliability of their software update and install process stinks.

Any confirmation that they reprogram the FRM? If so, would it undo coding for the LCI taillight retrofit?
