Back to summertime commuter cycling, what do you guys do to keep fit?
Looks like the suns keeping up nicely and got back to commuter cycling to work, a great way to start and end a work day especially since there are some awesome cycling paths along the way between work and home. Intend keeping it up 3-4 times a week and 1-2 times using the car to work besides using the car at weekends. Find cyclings a great way to keep fit while making good use of my commute time and doing my bit for the environment. Infact takes me the same time to cycle 12 kms one way to work as it does to drive in in chocked traffic or take public transport.
What do you guys do to keep the heart pumping? Last edited by cruvon; 12-06-2010 at 06:57 PM.. |

Im just getting into cycling too. I think it is great and does not really stress the body too much as it is more of a endurance sport!
BTW, what bike rack do you guys have?

Do you mean the rack for storage or the car bike rack? Don't take my bike by car so don't use any rack. Is yours a street or hybrid bike? |

Merry cyclist here - road and mountain (with a single speed on the way), try to get out three times a week. I squeeze 25-30km before work during the week, then usually get out for 30-60km rides on the weekend days.
I'd do more, but work and family committments prevent that. I do manage 3 45 minute swims a week and paddle the kayak in summer.

I do a 48 mile bike ride once a week when the temp is between 55-90 Fahrenheit. I just don't do it at all in the cold or extreme hot.
I do the following with my trainer:
I do the following on my own:
Depending on your age, you may be able to get by with less. At 51, it takes a lot to stay in shape.

Kebab workouts FTW! It is an intense program that involves using your biceps to bring up the kebab to your mouth. Its a hardcore version of concentration curls. you know what they say...curls get the girls!

was a keen cyclist until i've started riding motorbike. did the city to gong ride a few yrs ago, took me freaking 4 hrs!
as for bike racks, i have BMW roof racks and bicycle holder..looks tidy and neat but if you are height or strength challenged, you may want to consider a hitch mount setup. i'm around 6ft tall, so can easily mount it myself. |

Hurricanes mate? Keeping those rib bones held up is pretty strenuous work.
