OMG...To catch a predator in Long Beach

Man, I am sure most of you guys have seen these "To catch a Predator" from Dateline NBC...what sick about this is though, if you watch the video link below, you'll see this one Indian dude that drives a G35 and got busted....and guess what? This fucker goes to the same gym and I see him there all the time. His dumbass would just go and talk on the phone and trying to chat up a conversation with anyone that'll pay attention to him. If I see that guy again I should just kick his ass...:mad:

i completely disagree with what these guys are doing... obviously, and don't condone it in any way shape or form... but this can't POSSIBLY be legal... the manner it which they are entrapping them.

but they aren't engaged in the act.... i mean they are showing up but they can't prove anything.. i mean, as soon as they walk in and the girl says hello she walks out and the news reporter comes in. if they left the tape running and the guys tried to attempt something or forced themselves on them then yeah definately... go get them. but with the level of "proof" they have... i don't think it's proof at all. maybe it's my "pre-law" mindset getting the best out of me but i want to see some illegal action before i go implementing accusations on people.

EDIT: i mean really, as far as i am concerned... with the level of "proof" they have, me even talking to my girlfriends 11 year old sister should put me in jail. i think it's bullshit.

It seems to me they are actively seeking out people and then actually persisting in contacting them trying to get them to come by. One of the guys even said (not sure if it's true or not) that he asked "her" to leave him alone but she kept emailing and messaging him asking him to come by. I'm sure it would get bounced out of court by a good lawyer, but I think the objective here is a successful TV show and vigilante justice as much as anything else.

Uh..as a grown adult male, why would you even want to chat with a 13yr old girl in the first place. Even if you're a lonely desperate guy crusing online for love/sex, once you find out the other party is 13, then conversation is over

No kidding... I'm just saying from a legal standpoint it's not a very solid approach to law enforcement, but that it doesn't really matter because the real punishment is them being put on TV.

That show is all around very fucked up IMO.

i wouldn't say i sympathize with them but from a social standpoint...i don't think this is socially beneficial, my first inclination would be to help them.. maybe send them to therapy. not arrest them and make them a registered sex offender for the next 7 years essentially destroying their lives... it's not going to help them at all. furthermore, from a marketing standpoint as far as what works best for the show... i think if they formed an intervention and made it emotional that the show would recieve far more publicity. they just look like assholes approaching it in the manner they are.

neither do i, but what they are doing IS counter productive, i meen several of the people who end up on the show have SEEN the show, so obviously its not acting as much of a deterant in showing their faces

also you have to know that they are being portrayed much worse then reality, like someone mentioned the decoy repeatedly contacts the mark in some cases... its still wrong but....

i meen i love anime, and someone could EASILY portray me as a pervert or a pedo without including full details
