Help appreciated: Coded Sirius, but no ESN. BMW E90
Hi all,
I coded my 2010 BMW 328 E90 (with iDrive) to try and activate Sirius. I have read through many many threads, but can't find a solution to my problem, so I thought I'd ask you. Here's the problem: When I go to the Satellite Radio option, and then to the Options screen to get my ESN to call Sirius, I don't have an ESN. I just have the message that says Call 888-xxx-SIRIUS for Activation. Question: Is this happening because of a mistake/oversight while coding, or is it simply because my car doesn't have the Satellite Radio hardware? I checked in the boot, and there's no Sat module. However, I believe that 2010 and newer models have the Sat Radio built into the iDrive. My car definitely has the Sat Prep option. The VO lists $693. Here's what I coded: 1. Added $655 to CAS, FRM, and NFRM 2. Removed $693 from CAS, FRM, and NFRM 3. Turned SDARS to aktiv in KOMBI ECU These three steps instantly updated my iDrive and enabled the Satellite Radio option. But no luck with the ESN. I've added my TRC file so you can check out the changes I made. Thank you! |

bumping an old thread. i've got the same issue but after adding a sirius tuner in the trunk. there is a red light coming out of the most wiring, assuming then the most loop was properly done?
i didn't do a process car, just the cad and cic (trace file modifications). how long does it take to process the car? i don't have a battery charger so wondering.. thanks

I've retrofitted a cic in my 06 e91 and my cic is a 2009. Added a sirius oem tuner in trunk. My car isn't pre wires for sirius but was for a cd changer. Seems to be the same plug? I've added $655 to my vo and see satellite under my radio options but no esn.
I've also modified a tsu pink plug and plugged it into 1 of these 2 satellite antenna plugs. One being sat and one being terrestrial? I see no esn. I've subscribed and added my sirius is which was on the sticker of the satellite box. I'll need to check fuse #8 which is for a cdc. I don't think power is reaching my satellite unit. The internal fan isn't working. Hope this helps? |

If I'm not mistaken it has cic.c13, I need to bring it to cic.c16 I believe so I can avoid fsc codes. But that being said, isn't the fsc codes for cic radios 2010+ that have built in sirius tuners? Not my case..

Honestly not sure, when i code it goes from c08 to c13 when it's coding active, but thats the only reference i've seen of a version.. is there another way to validate the cic firmware revision?

glad i found this thread!! i was actually working with the dealer to have the sirius enabled in my 2010 e90!! they claim it will be $350, and will include 12 months of service.
the question i have, is that they had to replace the head unit in mine, just before i picked it up in january. they claim its an upgraded model and has the sirius "chip" installed. would that mean its the 2011 and that it may not be able to be done at home then? i consider my self fairly technically inclined, so i may dig deeper into this and see if its something that is workable for DIY |

So what's the EXACT procedure to code the Sirius using NCS? Too much riff raff and no one has posted a concise, complete answer. Does this look right (for a 2009 CIC car with external Sirius module in trunk)?
1) Remove $693 and ad $655 to VO 2) VO code CAS and NFRM - what about CIC? 3) Which ECU do the following need to be changed? SDARS Aktiv ISPEECH_SDARS Aktiv SDARS_PHONE_NUMBER_1 wert_0 RADIO_SDARS Aktiv SDARS_IN_EXBOX Exbox SDARS_REPLAY_AUTOMATIC nicht_aktiv SDARS_INBOX nicht_aktiv SDARS_DIAGNOSE Exbox Clarification would be much appreciated. I don't want to do a whole Process Car because I have extensive coding in various ECUs and don't want to redo allll of it again. |

Once you import the 6F FSC code correctly then you: VO code $655 and remove $693...Write FA to cas and NFRM Code CIC headunit to default and your done |

Turns out there's some misinformation out there. According to BMW and BimmerTech, my car (2009, SA 693) just needs the Sirius module plugged in and then VO coded.
And it worked. I purchased a new Sirius module and plugged it in. Then I removed $693 and added $655, VO coded CAS, NFRM, CIC. The Satellite option then appeared in my Entertainment selections. I simply went online to Sirius' website and registered my ESN and was eligible for a 12 month trial. That's it! Painless and quick |

Found this thread via search. Lots of good info here. I have an 07 w/ sat prep and professional radio that has a bunch of dead pixels. I was thinking I could just swap out the whole radio for a newer one with the sirius built into it. With that done, I could just extend the wires from the trunk to the head unit for the shark fin.
Do I need an FSC code to enable sirius in this situation or will I be GTG with coding? Thanks!

I am hoping that someone can help me with my satellite install in my 2009 328i (that has the satellite prep).
I moved the most cables and installed the satellite receiver using these instructions: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/att...3&d=1218917789 Once I did this, the satellite icon appeared on my radio! I thought that this was strange as I thought that the coding would have to be done first; however, when I select the icon, then nothing happens. I've been trying to complete the coding portion, but have not been successful. Can anyone explain the steps? I've tried removing and adding the VO coding, but don't know exactly what to do. I've searched inside every module that I can read, but have not been able to find SDARS anywhere. Is there anyone out there that could help me, please? |

I'll try this, but don't I have to choose an initial module (CAS, NRFM or FRM) and then I can only code the sub modules from the primary module that I selected?

Bumping this thread to report my success story.
Car: 2006 e90 330i that came with $693 (pre-wired for satellite radio). 1. Bought a used sirius module (p/n: 65126948064) from ebay for $54.00. 2. Bought the mounting bracket (p/n 65110406351) for ~$20. 3. Installed module and connected MOST cables following instructions: http://www.e90post.com/goodiesforyou...iriusRadio.pdf Then coded the following: 4. Added $655 to CAS and FRM. 5. Removed $693 from CAS and FRM. 6. Turned SDARS from nicht_activ to aktiv in CAPPL module. The "SAT" audio source popped right up in my CCC iDrive and I was good to go. Bonus - The module I bought already had an active paid subscription (not sure how long it will last) so I was able to listen to music immediately!

so I have had Sirius working with an external tuner with my recently retrofit CIC unit. I have an issue receiving channels over 25 though. The channels over 25 disappear but can still be accessed if they are stored in my favorites. They show up in the menu as '---'. When I reset the SDARS unit they come back for 1-2 startup cycles. Any idea whats wrong here? I have $655 coded and $693 removed.
