Tire rotation - If, when, and how to perform

I was wondering if any of you could enlighten me on the subject of tire rotation. I understand that rotation is not possible on some e90's because of different tires on the front vs. the rear. But in my case, I have the same tires all the way around. Should I rotate them regularly to promote better wear or will it cause more problems in the end? If I should roate them, at what intervals? I am just nervous because of all the talk of shimmying that some e90 owners are experiencing. I don't have it and I don't want it.

My car currently has about 9500 kms , and I'm going to rotate the tires at 10 000kms. I phoned the dealer ( actually he phoned me to ask how's the car going ) and asked him about this and he said :

1) Tire rotation recommended every 10 000 km
2) Swop front to back - no cross swapping
3) Good thing to check balancing and alignment while doing this.

Obviously if you different size front / rear tires as on some packages , I don't know if you should do rotation.

is there a reason why they do not recommend tire rotations?

IF = Yes
WHEN = About ever 7,500 miles depending on your driving habits
HOW = Pick up phone. Call dealer. Say "come get my car and rotate tires"

It's always nice to know who's opinions I can summarily dismiss from now on. They also don't recommend oil changes. I hear they say it's really bad if you wash or wax your car too.

Ledzep, why don't you do some research before spouting off at the mouth. Here is an excert from my manual: "In the interest of safety and optimal vehicle response, we advise against rotating tires. Braking and traction may be adversely affected." If you insist on rotating then you have to take into account cost. If the dealer charges 25-50 bucks per rotation, and you extend the life of the tire by 10000 miles, you can see that it may not be cost effective at all to rotate them.
Plus, most Bimmers have staggered tires anyways, so it isn't possible to rotate anyway.

Voltron- Can you direct me to the page in the manual that states that. Everyone has conflicting views and I would like to put my mind at ease...

I also have different size front and back which prevents any rotation unless you do side to side - but to do that one would have (I am guessing) to remove tires from rims and invert them because the threat is directional. SOOO... Is something that can be done with ZSP performance tires and if so how ?
