Feel like kicking coworker/manager in the head!

I like my job but hate having to travel 1.5 hours each way. I also sit next to a 400lb manager who is annoying as hell. He asks me stupid questions about anything every 5 min. Today he told me I was slacking cuz I took Mon, Tues off cuz my friend passed and just found out might have to pull the plug on my uncle which i left early yesterday to go see. What a fu..ing idiot. I think he was trying to joke but being overweight and lazy as he is he does not have good social skills. Plus he is the manager so he probably thinks he is special. I put him in his place and told him losing 2 people in a matter of a couple weeks is not fuc..ing funny. I think he got the message. I would tell my boss but this guy is a top guy(Untouchable you can say). I don't have the best history here as well so it might back fire and I get axed. This happen to a previous employee with this manager. Im just venting and cant wait to get out of here at 4pm. WTF can I do. Got a family to take of. Hard to find even an average paying job near my house. Just venting....

I've found that since I've gotten better at networking, I'm not so worried about getting the axe. Don't settle until you're in a position you are happy with. It sounds like you've just accepted the fact that you work for a shitty boss. Always keep your eyes and ears open for new opportunities, and not by checking CL or the classifieds, but by schmoozing, socializing, etc....

Also, if you make yourself valuable enough at your job, you'd be surprised at the changes which can take place if the boss gets the feeling you might jump ship if you're not happy.

Oddly enough, I also drive 1-1.5 hours each way here in Chicago.

If you're unhappy with your job to the extent that you are, it's on YOU to change that.

I am 37. I know a lot of people who are looking but cant find Good jobs. If I was single I would have GTFO a long time ago for sure. All for the family but i am networking and have some great opportunities. Just need to vent to the E90 crew. My wife feels for me. She knows this individual and knows my pain. So... if anyone is hiring in the Chicago land area I am here.
