New HPFP and injectors

Ok I have done my recall and I can say that my car runs better and respond much quicker than before... I also started using 91 instead of random fuel grade change becoz of fuel cost... but I can say my car is happy now and runs much aggressive than before. Now what i really wanted to check is If my dealer really change my HPFP and injectors or did they just adjust it from the computer... printing the records does not really mean anything... for me i really want to see it if it's new becoz it is going on record... how do i check without going to the dealer (becoz they always BS me about it)... sorry it just shows how much i dn't trust my dealer...

FYI. In the future you are entitled to ask for the OLD parts back. Really no way to check now unless you go back in and do the work again.

The part numbers are on your copy of the Service Order you signed.

And old parts that need to be held/audited/returned to manufacturer by the dealership that are warranty and or recall related will not be given to the customer.

I had not thought about them being returned to the manufacturer - you are correct with that. I think the OP is concerned that they just "made up" the work without actually doing it. But BMW would not reimburse them for the work if they did not get the core back I would suppose ...

On some previous post, local and international... it say that there should be a service sticker under the hood... i was looking for it and even asked the dealer if they did put a service tag under my hood... they did not say anything.... all i have is this service printout which i always get when i go for service... anyways i will check the part no it it is there...

A few things here. One your dealer did the work that is on your invoice. This is a recall. If the dealer lied and didnt install said parts, said parts failed, especially a recall part, the dealer would get shut down in a heartbeat for insurance fraud and other reasons! I dont think they would want that problem, especially since its such and easy replacement. Most dealers I know of do not put the stickers on even when they replace a part. If BMW put stickers on for every warranty/recall part your car would look like a College football helmet with all the stickers!

Plus if the dealer forged an RO said they replaced parts and didnt, they still need to send the parts back to the manufacturer. So if they didnt do the repair, where would the parts come from to send back? No, you cannot get your old parts. They need to be sent back to the manufacturer. All warranty claims are like this. If you paid out of pocket (assuming there is no core charge) then you can request the old parts. In your situation this is not the case.

The parts replaced will be on your invoice, that will tell you if they replaced the injectors(all or some), HPFP and reprogrammed. Also if you want to check to see if the HPFP was changed. From under the hood, shine a light down on the driver side of the block and look at the pump. If it was replaced, it will clearly be a brand new looking part. As far as the injectors, if you are really curious, pop off the upper engine cover and look at the injector part #s.

I highly highly highly doubt the dealer said they did the repair, but really didnt.

btw- its beCAUSE

You are good, they replaced everything. The shaking on cold starts was do to the injectors.

So I don't really see the point on why others are so worried about going for a recall service??... this experience just made me more assured that my car is going to run better and we get free service and parts!! Isn't that a good deal?! but again i will see how the new fuel pump performs.... also i think that the injector problems is due to poor quality fuel we sometimes put in the car... so i'll stick to 91 grade (i don't care about fuel cost anymore) It might not be the most desirable car out there but it is still a BMW so i'll feed my car right...

I don't think the injectors are due to bad fuel. I had all 6 of my injectors bad and replaced and I have never used a drop of bad or cheap fuel.

Just got mine back today as well. I got a different fuel pump though. Either way, long cranks are gone and the car feels much more smooth to drive

surprised nobody is slamming you for using below 91 fuel when it is clearly marked to use only premium... so yeah.... just use premium from here on out.

Fuel injectors

In May 2011 went in for fuel pump recall and it appears also had fuel injectors #2, 3 replaced per a different SIB (did not focus on this at the time). In November 2011 (2 mos out of 4 year warranty) experienced engine failsafe message and loss of power. Dealer replaced faulty injectors #4,5,6 as a "goodwill" gesture. Car runs fine now, but just noticed in service records that injector #1 was never replaced. Is this a potential issue? Why didn't they replace all injectors in the first instance?

They have a list of specific injectors that need to be replaced, based on date and production code. For the recall, they check your car against the list and replace any that qualify. Probably your second set failed or were marginal on testing. #1 probably was OK from the beginning, and still is.
