I would like to see a dark red metallic offered. Ditch the green.

metallic white??? oh man that'll be great. hopefully with the new M3.

bmw's alpine white is clean and sporty, but boring and less luxurious in a way.

I guess it's more like a pearl white, the IS350 is a nice example in that color.

Metallic does not necessarily mean pearl. White Met. would just have metal flake in it, a la Black Sapphire.

Pearl is a bit different. My friends a painter at Lexus. He's explained to me the detailed differences b/w just about every type of paint job. Probably why I can't remember exactly how its done.

He told me if I really wanted to he'd strip my clear coat and work his magic and turn my base coat into a Alpine Pearl White.

I hope that if it is a pearleascent color that it's as bright of a white as AW. I think that's the problem with the 350z's. They're color is too dark.

I can usually see new BMW color names before they are launched by looking at paint mix tables. They are released long before the car is launched in it

Sofar I havent seen a new one that seems to be white.

Some new color comming on BMW's:
Please note, these may or may not be available on E9x models
I cant tell yet what models will get them

1)Sedona Red metallic
2)Tahiti Green metallic
3)Patagonia Green metallic
4)Mineral green metallic
5)Mahogani

Ones already out on other models
1) Jerez Black ( M3 )
2) Platinum Grey ( 5 Series )
3) Deep Sea Blue ( 5 Series )

That seems to be a lot of new greens . Prolly a different one for a different model. I would like to see a pearl white metallic paint on a BMW. It would be Hawt. And why not, Lexus tries to make a knock off for almost everything BMW, so why not use their only trait that stands out, their Pearl White paint.

I also believe that "Arctic Metallic" is sometimes referred to as Metallic Arctic White? or something like that.

Pretty sure I saw it somewhere on the UK BMW site maybe or just in a product catalog from over seas. Anyway, that might be where the confusion comes from.

I like the idea of a white with some mica in it, or some metal flake. The AW is cool, but it's also overly simple. Just kind of lays there and doesn't do much.

Actually, Audi and Porsche had the Pearl White paint at least half a decade before Lexus even was available as a brand name. The Audi pearl white was the most popular color for them in the mid 80s. The 911 pearl white was also one of the more popular colors in the 80s after the gunmetal grey.

Unless BMW's product planning trend forecasters see a major shift towards green (maybe environmental awareness related), I have yet to see a vehicle that looks better in green relative to other colors. Some things just should not be in certain colors -- green evening suits guys?

I was telling myself how happy I was because BMW didn't offer a metallic white. IMO it's super ugly.

About white, I can see the the Germans laughing, wondering why anyone would want a white car.

White (for cars) is derisively called Kühlschrankweiß and is also thought of as being reserved for panel vans.

So I don´t see BMW trying to come out with more variations on white.

I think a non-metallic dark grey would be cool. And a non-metallic bright blue.

Metallic white is a chick color.

Same in the UK I believe too isn't it? The "White Vans"...

Oh just as an aside, living in the states, Who the hell cares what a German would wouldn't do in Germany with his/her BMW?

Curious though Jspira that if White was such a Taboo color choice that it's still offered as an option in Germany... You'd think it wouldn't even be an option if it was as reviled as you say. Then again, maybe sweeping generalizations are just as useless in Germany/Europe as they are anywhere else?
