CANNOT Update Software "For Communication and Entertainment" through USB

Any suggestions? I downloaded the software from the BMW website. I loaded it onto my otherwise empty BMW memory stick. When I connect it to the USB port in the armrest and select "Software Update" in iDrive, this is the message I get:

Some have said this but the PDF with instructions I downloaded says NOT to use the glovebox port... I'll give it a try.

It didn't work for me in the glove box - only in the armrest USB port and it took putting it in and taking it out and back in several times for it to work for me.
Good thing about the arm rest since I found it almost impossible to get into the glove box USB.

Dumb question, but I've searched and searched and can't find anything on it - what is it you are trying to update? Is it a new software/firmware for iDrive? If so, can you post the link to it on BMW's website?

TIA,
Rich

Probably the bluetooth/communications update. Only works on 2010 and up, or if you have the option for software update in your settings.

To the OP, make sure your drive is seated correctly and all the way in. You may need an extension to get it seated correctly.

Is the drive formatted FAT32? Don't think it will be able to read it if not.
